King over Death

Thursday 27 October
READ: John 11:25 - 44
MORE LESSON: John 10:17-18

Jesus is King not just because He has power over nature and demons but also because He has power even over death. Jesus raised the dead several times. It is always a big deal to resuscitate someone who fainted and it is definitely something great to raise someone who has stopped breathing for 24 hours. However when you talk about someone who has been dead for four days, clothed with grave clothes and buried in a sealed grave, then you are talking of a really dead man. Lazarus was dead for days and the Bible records that he was already stinking; that means that he had started decomposing. Jesus got to the grave and called him, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go: John 11:43-44. Someone commented that Jesus needed to confirm that the name of the man He wanted to raise from the dead was Lazarus, because if He had merely said 'come out', all the dead people in the graves would rise up and come out. Jesus is King even over death. At the word of His command, death released its captive. Death therefore recognises that Jesus is King.
Jesus did not only raise the dead but He Himself disgraced death. He laid down His life and died on the cross and on the third day, He rose from the dead. He didn't raise others from the dead only to later become a captive of death. He could do for Himself what He did for others. If Jesus did not resurrect from the dead, one would wonder whether His Kingship extends over death. He showed His Kingship by messing up death. He defeated death home and away. This is what the Bible means when it says, if the prince of this world had known, they would not have crucified the king of glory: 1 Cor. 2:8. If death knew, it wouldn't have dared Jesus.
Do you know that Jesus actually became greater after His death and resurrection? In John 20:26, the Bible shows how while the disciples locked themselves up for fear of the Pharisees, without knocking the door, Jesus showed up in their midst. What shocked them was that when they were together and the door was locked, they had to open it for Him. This time around, the door was firmly locked and there was Jesus standing in their midst. After His death and resurrection, His form of a Spirit, He passed through walls and appeared to many people in different locations at once. The death and resurrection of Jesus actually released His Spirit to operate at a higher frequency. It is that Spirit that is in you so you can also reign over death. Hallejah! Jesus is king. The greatest terror to man is death and he will do anything to stop it but no one has been able to conquer it until Jesus did! Praise be to my King, the Conqueror of death.

Doing More

Wednesday 26 October
READ: Phil. 3:13-14
MORE LESSON: Exo. 14: 15-22

As people of faith, we know that with God all things are possible (Mk 10:27). The spirit that believes that all things are possible is the spirit of moving forward. It is only a person with an all-possibility mentality that can move forward. When you believe that all things are possible, you do not believe in going back, retreating, stagnation or idleness.
It is time to move forward. You must move forward, alongside with your family, work and environment; everything about you must move forward. Do not be satisfied with remaining the same. In Exo. 14: 15, moving forward was a command to the Israelites. It was a decree from the Spirit and the operation of the Holy Spirit in your life in this season should be the spirit of progress, the spirit of doing better, the spirit of achieving more, the spirit of having more. You should move forward in health, strength, wealth, impact and achievement. God told His people to move forward and Phil. 3: 14 talks about pressing forward. When it seems that movement is not forthcoming on its own, don't stay at one place; rather, press forward. One of the ways you can get everything you want faster than you thought is by pressing on.
Pressing indicates applying more force; It is about becoming more intentional. Don't do things for doing sake; do things deliberately to get results. This is what it means by pressing forward. By pressing, you get what you want sooner and faster. You have to demand more from yourself in life. You have to become a little harder on yourself so as to get to where you desire. Most times, we love to demand more from other people and less from ourselves. You want people to give you more money, you want the teacher to give you more marks, the government to give you more pay. People who make real progress are people who place a higher demand on themselves and not people who go around demanding and expecting more from other people. Place more demand upon the grace of God upon your life. Demand more from the anointing of the Holy Ghost upon your life. Demand more from God, demand more from yourself. Demand on your energy and capability to produce more than you have now. It is by so doing that you are pressing. The spirit of pressing forward is at work; it is making you to do more. So go and apply more force.
The promises of God are already waiting for you to make a move, locate them and key into them, they can not fail. They are the fertilizers that boost your move, if only you can decide to move. Here is one of such (Psa.1:2-3).

Prayer/Action
* Lord, increase my greatness and make me a thousand times more, in Jesus’ name.
* I shall not be complacent, lazy or indifferent in my duty and pursuit of excellence.

TODAY'S PROPHETIC PRAYER
I command all demonically organised networks against my spiritual wellbeing to be nullified now, in the name of Jesus.

The King's Word II

Tuesday 25 October
READ: Mark 4: 36 -39.NLT
MORE LESSON: Lk. 10:18-19

The evidence of kingship is power. Eccl. 8: 4 says that where the word of a king is, there is power. The sign of kingship is dominion. If we must live as kings we must understand that situations and circumstances are not meant to rule us but we are to rule them. A king rules by the words of his mouth. Jesus showed us how to rule by living the life of a king as an example for us.
In Mark 4:39, Jesus demonstrated the kingly life for us to see. He was in a ship and the waves arose threatening everyone in the ship. The disciples that were in the ship with Him had started to panick and fear for their lives. The Bible makes very clear the life of a king, When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the water, "Silence! Be still!" Mark 4: 39 (NLT). Jesus demonstrated His Kingship over nature by the display of His authority; He commanded the waves to be still. The king doesn't panic in crisis, he speaks calm to the storm. When Jesus spoke like a king to the storm, the Bible says that suddenly the wind stopped; that was the storm that had been proving strong and threatening everyone. However, at one word from the King, order was restored.
It is the same power you have as a king. Jesus said, Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you: Luke 10:19. You have power to rule over demons, sickness, situations and circumstances. This power is exercised by words; you should speak like a king. When you study the life of Jesus our King who we are called to be like; He ruled the world by His words. The Bible says, God hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Heb 1:2-3. God made the world by His Word, He sustains the world by His Word and He rules the world by His Word. It is time for you to start ruling as well. Do not speak words of weakness, fear and lack. Speak words of dominion, power and kingship. It is your turn to rule.

Prayer/Action
* Lord, my life shall not lack Your power, in the mighty name of Jesus.
* By the authority of Christ I command sickness, demons, afflictions to bow before me today, in Jesus’ name.

TODAY'S PROPHETIC PRAYER
I proclaim according to God's promises, this year, the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon my life and I shall not put forth my hand into iniquity, in the name of Jesus.

The King's Word I

Monday 24 October
READ: Dan. 6: 12 -28
MORE LESSON: Eccl. 8: 4

Eccl. 8: 3 – 4 says ...for the king can do whatever he wants. His command is backed by great power. No one can resist or question it. A king is sovereign; his words don't fall to the ground. A king is practically worshipped, and when he declares a thing, it happens. The word “Kabiesi” is one of the appellations for the king in the Western part of Nigeria, which simply means the one who no man can question. When a king talks or acts, he is unquestionable. His action doesn't have to be right or wrong before it stands permanently.
Right or wrong, it stands because the king has spoken. In those days, great power was attributed to the office of a king. In those days, a king could simply see a lady that was pleasing to his eyes and command that she should be taken into his palace as his wife. He didn't care whose wife or daughter she was. He would simply put his feet to the ground and declare that she was his from that time onward and there was nothing any man could do about it. Such an act would be a criminal act in contemporary times but when kings were kings, it was in the right of the king to have whatever he said performed without any question.
Daniel was in the kingdom of the Persian and Medes and the king was misled into giving an instruction that affected Daniel negatively. The king didn't mean Daniel any harm but his enemies plotted against him and made the king to sign a decree that would trap Daniel. They requested that the king should sign a law that no one should pray to any other God except the king for thirty days and anybody that did would be thrown into the lions’ den. The Bible says as soon as Daniel knew that the king had signed the decree, he opened the door and windows of his house, faced Jerusalem and began to call on the name of the Lord. Daniel didn't obey the king's command when it was contrary to the command of God – the Eternal King. The enemies took Daniel to the king and demanded that he should be punished according to the decree of the king. It is astonishing that even the king couldn't go against his decree. The king's word was so powerful and binding on everyone, including himself.
When we say that Jesus is the King of Heaven and earth, the full import of it should be striking. Isaiah 9:6 says, ...the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Jesus is King. All power and authority of the king is in Jesus. His words are full of power.

Prayer/Action
* Jesus the King, let Your Word which You have spoken stand in my destiny, in Jesus’ name.
* Jesus, let the authority of a king back up my words from today in Jesus’ name.

TODAY'S PROPHETIC PRAYER
Father, Your Word says my place of defense shall be the munitions of rocks, that my bread shall be given me and my water shall not be scarce (Isa. 3:16), this I receive today, in Jesus' name.
