Born to Burn I

Saturday 2 September
READ: Gen. 1:1-9, 2:6-7
MORE LESSON: Heb. 12:28-29

The beginning of the Bible, especially Genesis 1:2 reflects an ancient belief that all things are composed of some combination of earth, fire, wind and water. Ancient Judaism believed that the four cosmic elements were not seen as mere building blocks; they were believed to control the very nature of man and matter. Subsequently, the four elements laid the base for alchemy and medicine until the 17th century. Moving on from that historical background to an elemental approach to Gen. 1:2 shows that before creation two [Earth and Fire] of the four elements were missing. There was no Earth; And the earth was…void…, no Fire – that's why …darkness was upon the face of the deep… but there was Air, And the Spirit of God moved….   The Hebrew word for Spirit - Ruach is translated as Winds; and there was Water, the face of the waters.

If you dare to get a firm grip of the above analysis, then move on a chapter ahead to Gen. 2:6-7, where a pattern of these cosmic elements reappear in the make-up of the created man. A mist of water moistened the whole surface of the earth, (v6); God formed man out of the moist earth/dust and then released divine breath/wind into man (v7). So, it's safe to say that till this point, man was made up of air/wind, water and earth. But here comes the missing link; no fire was introduced in making the first Adam. He
lacked Holy Fire.

This missing fire code explains every human error, mistake and flaw from the ancient past in Gen. 3 till Acts 2 when the Fire fell. Deut. 4:24 tells us why; For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God. Since God is fire, it will be impossible for any of us to fulfil the law of God, please God by faith or walk with Him without being filled, that is carrying the same composite element that God does – Fire. More than Dust, more than Wind, more than Earth, only the Fire-man can approach God.

This is why we must stop blaming Eve for falling to the devil temptation. She fell because what it takes to stay afloat the water line of evil is the exact cosmic element she wasn't wired with. If she didn't do it, you can trust that Abel's elder brother Cain or any member of his wicked generation would have. Satan has enough comrades down through the thread of mortal genealogy to become his tool for that evil work because all humanity was without Fire. It is Good for us that it happened on time, or we would not have started our journey to the cross to meet with Jesus, the baptizer with Fire. This is the advantage of Christianity. It is more than a religion; it is a life of Fire. Are you burning with Holy Fire? What sets your heart on fire?

Prayer/Action
*  Ask Jesus to baptize you  with a fresh dose of the Holy Ghost  Fire.
*  Speak thunderously in the Holy Ghost for the next few moments until you feel the flames of divine fire.
*  Declare that you are  burning  and everything around you must catch Holy Fire.

TODAY’S PROPHETIC PRAYER
September will work wonders for me and my family, we shall walk in the fullness of God's provision, in the mighty name of Jesus.

Time Indicators

Friday 1 September
READ: Matt. 24:1-7
MORE LESSON:  Matt. 24: 8 – 14

These are the end-times and the Lord will come any moment from now. Jesus gave several indicators to show that the end of this age is here. In the Matt 24 account, the first indicator given by the Lord is that no stone of the Temple would be left on top of one another. When He gave that prophecy, it was the Temple built by Herod for the Jews that was standing. That Temple was destroyed long ago in 70 AD in fulfilment of that prophecy.

In Matt. 24: 6 (NKJV), He said, And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars.... The reality of this prophecy is undeniable in our world today. From Syria, Egypt, Ukraine, Russia, Israel, South Sudan, to Central African Republic, we can't but see that what Jesus predicted is here with us. Many of the terrorist activities we see are wars in religious disguise, but Jesus, who prophesied these, also told us, ...See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass...: vs 6. Do not run helter-skelter or be troubled even in the face of wars and rumours of wars for all these things must come to pass. They will not touch you but pass you by. There may be no peace in the earth but there will be peace in your heart and life.

He then said that nation shall rise against nation. He added that there shall be famine, pestilence, and earthquake in diverse places. All these are happening in the world today. The pestilence predicted by Jesus are flying around in several forms; Ebola being a recent confirmation of this prophecy. How can these things be happening and anybody will claim that he doesn't know that the end-times are right here? It is amazing that all these are happening as prophesied and many people are still not taking commitment to things of God seriously. How could you see all these happenings and yet to go to church becomes so difficult for you? there is definitely something wrong. The cares of life have taken over people; more cars, better job, better livelihood are the things they run after. As important as these things are, you cannot afford to place priority on them. Jesus said, ...seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you: Matt. 6: 33.

The point is all these happenings around us are indicators of the times that we are in- the last days. Those who would not give attention to this alert are in danger of being victims of the negative end time prophecy. Wake up friend the end is drawing near and laxity must be sacrificed on the altar of alertness and consecration unto God.

Prayer/Action
* Pray that you will not be ignorant of the signs of this age, in Jesus’ name
* Pray that you will not be overtaken by the end time events, in Jesus’ name.
* Pray that you will be kingdom minded, in the mighty name of Jesus.

TODAY’S PROPHETIC PRAYER
Hallelujah! It's the ninth month; it speaks of grace and glory, no good thing will be missing in it, in the name of Jesus.

The Legacy of Peace

Thursday 31 August
READ: Mk. 4:35-41
MORE LESSON:  Num.25:12-13

Peace is not the absence of conflict or trouble, but the ability to cope with it. Therefore, one can have peace in the midst of trouble. Isa. 26:3-4, says,Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.... In other words, a believer can experience peace on a daily basis as he fellowships with God through the Word and prayer. We need peace of mind to be able to do many things in life as a disturbed man cannot achieve much, try as he may. So, peace is a great asset to a believer. And because of the importance of peace, Jesus came as the Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6). This means He is the one who removes all peace disturbing factors and secures peace for those who trust in Him. Jesus came into this world bearing this name so that mankind can be free from restlessness and torment of fear. Once a man is in Christ Jesus, he begins to enjoy peace because Jesus brings peace wherever He rules. Is Jesus ruling your heart and mind? Then you have eternal peace that cannot be taken away by circumstances.

Moreover, when Jesus was going He left for us a legacy of peace,  ...my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you...: Jn. 14:27. However, Satan has stolen the peace of many believers and introduced anti-peace habits and situations into their lives without their knowledge. Murmur, complain, doubt, worry, anger, strife, e.t.c. are anti-peace; Paul calls them the middle wall of separation (Eph. 2:14). Rather than fret, hand over the control of your heart and mind to the Prince of Peace and He will bring abundant peace into your heart; life will begin to unfold as you desire.

Jesus our Lord Himself once had a restless situation around Him while on a mission. The sea suddenly became stormy! The disciples did all they could but couldn't stop the storm. Then they called on The Master who at that time was fast asleep in the boat. The same storm that was troubling the disciples was simply rocking Jesus to a sweet sleep. Rather than fret, Jesus woke up to rebuke the storm and the wind, and instantly peace returned. Thus Jesus left us with the legacy of peace; He left us with the assurance that our peace can be challenged but cannot be taken. Also, that whenever our peace is challenged we should not fret but face the storm and speak to it. The sea will surely obey the Master, if only you can speak to it rather than panic at it.

Prayer/Action
* Lord God set Your peace as guard over my heart, in Jesus' name.
* nGod keep my heart in perfect peace, not regarding the turbulent situation  around me, in Jesus’ name.
* Pray that the peace of God will reign in all circumstances that confront you in life.

TODAY’S PROPHETIC PRAYER
God of all goodness, thank You for the month of August and the remaining greater months ahead, in the name of Jesus.

A Word in Season

Wednesday 30 August
READ: Isa. 50:4
MORE LESSON: Prov. 15:22-23

Words are very powerful; they can make or break a man. At the point of hearing a word, a man can either be defeated or encouraged. Words are spoken to frighten an enemy at war. When David confronted Goliath, it was not first about fighting; it was about exchange of words (I Sam. 17:43-46). Spoken words can even make nations go to war; such is the power of words.

Much as words can lead to fighting and war, well spoken words can bring peace, encouragement and uplifting. When you have the tongue of the learned, you know how to speak a word to encourage the weary. In life's journey everyone is weary at one time or the other. Those that are weary need words of encouragement, and God is counting on those with the tongue of the learned to encourage the weary in order for them to come out of weariness.
Unfortunately, some people don't have what it takes to encourage people that are downcast, so they complicate the matter. That was the case with the three friends of Job in the Bible. They spoke so many words to Job, but none of them told their friend about the God who gives a song in the night (Job 35:9-10). All their words were spoken out of season. The Bible says, A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver: Prov. 25:11. You can create a wonderful world around people by speaking correctly into their lives. Instead of being critical and judgmental, it is possible to paint a beautiful picture that brings people out of trouble. As you go out today, make up your mind to be a blessing to someone by the way you speak;
Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man: Col. 4:6. The Message translation says, Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out: Col. 4:6.
That says it all: as God's children our words must raise people up, strengthen and give them hope. We must not be accusers of the brethren nor help Satan in the ministry of killing and destroying. We must watch our tongue that it does not bring out both sweet and bitter water at the same time;
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Jam. 3:10-11.

Prayer/Action
* Ask God for the tongue of the learned to always be a blessing.
* I Pray that my words will be seasoned with salt and give grace to all that hear me, in Jesus’ name.
* Ask God to put the Word of life in your mouth to give life to all that hear you.

TODAY’S PROPHETIC PRAYER
I draw the goodness of God from this day and I shut out every hellish preparation, in the name of Jesus.
