Tuesday, 9 September

Memory Verse: And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel... whose names are in the book of life. Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Philippians 4:3-4

There is a divine record in heaven, not written in ink, but by the very hand of God. It is called The Book of Life. Those whose names are found in it are marked for glory, eternal fellowship with God, and life everlasting in the presence of the Lamb.

Paul wasn’t guessing when he said the names of his gospel partners were in the Book of Life. He was sure, and from that assurance, he cried: Rejoice in the Lord always! (1 Thessalonian 5:16) This joy is not an empty emotion; it results from the assurance of eternal security.

Even Jesus made it clear in Luke 10:20: Don’t rejoice because you cast out devils—rejoice because your name is written in heaven. What power! What a privilege! It means your destination is not destruction but dominion. Your name isn’t echoing in hell, it’s registered in heaven! It means you will spend an eternity of glory with God and Jesus, His Lamb.

However, hear this: your name doesn’t enter the Book of Life by church attendance or religious rituals. It is written when your heart turns to God, and you surrender fully to Christ. It is a heavenly record of those who belong to Him, love Him and keep His commandments.

If your name is there, rejoice! If you are unsure, repent and believe today. This is not something to gamble with; eternity is not a game. Rejoice—your name is written in glory; but if not, don’t delay. Repent and return to God now! To be written in the Book of Life is to have a place in glory while to be left out is to be lost forever.

Prayer/Action

* Thank God for being counted among those whose names are written in His eternal book.

* Ask God for help to live worthy of this calling, and labour to bring others into His Kingdom.

* Pray that your name and that of your relatives will not be erased from the Book of Life.

Walking in the Spirit

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Romans 8:1-6

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Memory Verse: And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit. Ephesians 5:18

Daily contentions exist between the flesh's desires and the Spirit's leading in believers' lives. This conflict is real and constant. However, our victory comes not by will-power but by walking in the Spirit. To walk in the Spirit means to live in step with God's direction through the Holy Spirit. This is the path to a victorious and impactful life. Walking in the Spirit begins with an intentional decision each day, to submit your thoughts, actions and decisions to God's control. The Holy Spirit is not a force to be commanded but a Person to be followed. He leads us into all truth (John 16:13) and reminds us of God’s Word when we face life’s challenges.

Apostle Paul contrasts the works of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5. The works of the flesh, such as anger, envy, impurity and strife, come naturally to the unredeemed heart: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. These are the result of walking closely with the Spirit. Human effort cannot manufacture these fruits; they are cultivated by abiding in Christ and yielding to the Spirit’s influence. Paul’s instruction in Galatians 5:16 is not just a suggestion—it’s a spiritual key: Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. The flesh always wants to dominate our choices, leading to sin and spiritual coldness, but when we choose to be led by the Spirit, we walk in righteousness, peace and joy.

Walking in the Spirit also means resisting distractions and temptations that can quench our fire. It involves filling your heart with God’s Word, spending time in prayer and staying sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s prompting. He might urge you to reach out to someone, turn away from a sinful situation or simply be still and listen. These promptings are part of the daily walk.

Romans 8:5-6 highlights that the danger of being carnally minded is that it leads to death, while being spiritually minded leads to life and peace. This is why we must constantly check our motives, thoughts and desires. Are they Spirit driven or flesh-driven? A Spirit-led life is a life of freedom and victory. It keeps your fire burning bright and your heart in tune with God. Walking in the Spirit is not reserved for "super Christians"; it is the daily call of every believer. Choose to walk in the Spirit; let Him fill and guide your steps, shape your character, and lead you into the fullness of God’s will. When you walk in the Spirit, your life becomes a light in a dark world.

Prayer/Action

* Thank God for showing you a superior and excellent way to live victoriously.

* Commit your ways to the Lord and ask the Holy Ghost to help you walk in and yield to the Spirit.

* Pray in the Holy Ghost for at least 10 minutes as you receive grace to resist temptations.

Power of the Holy Spirit

Memory Verse: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Romans 8:14

The Christian life is not meant to be lived in your strength. God never intended for you to struggle through your walk with Him by relying on willpower or good intentions alone. So, He gave you the Holy Spirit as your Helper, Guide and Source of power. Without the Holy Spirit, living victoriously is not just difficult; it’s impossible. Even Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they received power from on high (Luke 24:49): that power is the Holy Spirit.

Acts 1:8 says: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you…. The power is not just for preaching or working miracles, but also for your everyday living. The Holy Spirit empowers you to love, forgive, resist temptation and walk boldly. He enables you to be a witness—not just through your words but also through how you live.

When the Holy Spirit is present in your life, everything changes. He’s the one who convicts you of sin, helps you understand the Word and reveals Jesus to you. According to John 14:26, the Holy Spirit is your Teacher; He reminds you of everything Jesus said. Without Him, the Word of God may seem like mere text, but with Him, it becomes alive and active in your heart.

The Holy Spirit also empowers your prayer life. Romans 8:26 says: Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. He intercedes for you with groanings too deep for words. He strengthens you when you are weak and gives you wisdom when you are uncertain.

He also produces fruit in your life (Galatians 5:22-23), which these are not just nice personality traits; they are signs that your life is under His control. The more you yield to Him, the more you will look like Christ. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not a one-time event; a daily empowerment is necessity. You continually invite Him to lead your thoughts, words and actions.

Living in the power of the Holy Spirit is the only way for you to walk in true victory. Don’t depend on your own strength; yield yourself to Him daily. Talk to Him, listen to Him and follow His leading. His presence brings strength in your weakness, clarity in your confusion and boldness in the face of fear. Let Him empower you to be a witness and a vessel of God’s glory. When the Spirit is in control, the fire of God will never burn out in your life.

Prayer/Action

* Thank God for giving you the Holy Spirit.

* Ask the Holy Spirit to help you stay yielded to Him at all times.

* Pray in the Holy Ghost as you ask for a fresh baptism, infilling and refreshing.

The Spirit Within: The Game Changer

Memory Verse: So he answered and said to me: ‘This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6

Life often confronts us with mountains—obstacles, uncertainties, and limitations. At such points, we tend to panic or lean on our limited strength, forgetting the divine resource that dwells within us: the Holy Spirit. Today, we are reminded not to focus on the mountain but on the Spirit within us, who is far greater than any external circumstance.

When Jesus stood up in the synagogue to read from the scroll of Isaiah, He declared, in Luke 4:18: The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me… That moment marked a shift in how His ministry would be perceived. It was no longer about the ordinary; it was about divine enablement. The Spirit changes everything—not just situations but the very person carrying the Spirit. The presence of the Holy Spirit is not just as a spiritual accessory; He is the essence of transformation. He turns weakness into strength, fear into courage and impossibility into testimony. He doesn’t just inspire; He also empowers. However, the transformation only happens when we shift our focus from the mountain to the Spirit.

Mountains represent challenges— financial burdens, emotional turmoil and delayed dreams. The problem isn’t the mountain; it’s what we focus on. If your eyes stay on the mountain, you’ll feel overwhelmed. However, if your attention is turned to the Spirit within you, you’ll realize that mountains move in obedience to faith-filled speech empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Zechariah 4:6 says: Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit.... This was God’s word to Zerubbabel, a man tasked with rebuilding a temple that had been in ruins for 70 years. The conditions around him were discouraging, the resources limited, and the manpower inadequate. Yet, the instruction was clear: don’t rely on numbers, don’t depend on skills—lean on the Spirit, who is the True Enabler. Today, many believers try to face life’s battles with intellectual strategy or physical strength, but those things fall short. The Holy Spirit brings divine intelligence, godly strength and supernatural advantage. He is a Helper and the power behind the believer’s progress.

What is the mountain before you today? Is it fear, failure or a lingering promise unfulfilled? Take your eyes off the problem and fix your gaze on the Spirit of God within you and where He is, mountains tremble.

Let today be the beginning of a new focus. Speak to that situation not with anxiety but authority rooted in the Spirit within you, Who is the game changer. Stop worrying about what you lack: if you have the Spirit, you have more than enough.

Prayer/Action

* Pray that the Holy Spirit will help you focus on Him, not your challenges.

* Pray that the power of the Holy Spirit will work through you in all you do.

* Ask God to transform you from within by His Spirit.
