Hope for an Esau

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Genesis 27:30-40

30 And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting. 31 And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son's venison, that thy soul may bless me. 32 And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau. 33 And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed. 34 And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father. 35 And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing. 36 And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me? 37 And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son? 38 And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept. 39 And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above; 40 And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.

MORE LESSON: Hebrews 4:16

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need

Sunday, 19 October

Memory Verse: ...and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck. Genesis 27:40

The story of Esau has been told to us since kindergarten. We are familiar with the causes and consequences of Esau's actions. Esau undoubtedly attracted judgment and hatred from God (Malachi 1:2-3) by being nonchalant about his birthright. He lived out the prophecy that preceded him from the womb (Genesis 25:23). In Genesis 27:1, Esau is portrayed as the beloved son of Isaac, who was entitled to Isaac's blessing, but his destiny was hijacked by the subtlety of his mother and brother. He narrowly missed receiving his blessing (v. 30).

However, Esau rescued his destiny by insisting that his father give him just one blessing. When you access one blessing from God, you are made. Esau did not give up. What did he do? He wept aloud and waited before his father without shame (Hebrews 4:16). What do you do with what you believe in? Many of us have been quiet for too long in pain. It is time to ask the Father for just a blessing. Become agitated in your spirit that the dominion of the oppressor might come under your feet. (Vs39-40). Put your past behind you like Esau did in Genesis 33:4. Move forward so that you can access your blessings and have the testimony of Esau (Genesis 33:9).

Let this new glory not pass you by; stand up, be restless, take your stand as a child of God. He loves you; He proclaimed this Himself when He sent Jesus to redeem you. Take advantage of God's promises and be persistent; pray especially when all hope is lost, like Esau. Do as the persistent widow in Luke 18:1-10. 18:1-10. If you do not give up holding on to God, there is hope for you. He is the God of a second chance! If one is lost, there is hope for another. Stir up your spirit and call on God for help today.

Prayer/Action

* Ask God to grant you the advantage of Esau

* Pray for grace to wait until the prophecy over your life and destiny is fulfilled

* Pray the glory of God will not pass you by until you becomes everything and more that God said about you

TODAY’S PROPHETIC PRAYER: Every handwriting of poverty, visible and invisible over my life and future, is this day abolished, in the victorious name of Jesus.

A Thousand Times Increase

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Mark 4:38

38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?.

MORE LESSON: Deuteronomy 1:10-11

10 he LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude. 11 (The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!)

Saturday, 18 October

Memory Verse: The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you! Deuteronomy 1:11

In the parable of the Sower, we see what happens when seed falls on different kinds of ground. The different types of ground denote the various kinds of hearts with which people receive the Word of God. According to the text, some seed fell by the wayside, some on the rock, and some among thorns, and they all did not bear fruit. However, some fell on good soil and were fruitful. Even on the good soil, there were different levels of fruit-bearing. The Scripture says that some gave thirtyfold, some sixtyfold, and some a hundredfold yield. A thirtyfold return is commendable when compared to the unfruitful grounds, but it is not comparable to a hundredfold return. Levels are evident. So, glory is also in levels.

In Genesis 26:12, Isaac sowed during a time of famine and received a hundredfold harvest in the same year, and God blessed him. He had a hundredfold and was also blessed by God. So even as great as the hundredfold is, it is not all that there is to the blessing of God. Reading further, we can see other evidence of the blessing of God on Isaac's life in addition to the hundredfold that he received, and the man waxed great and went forward and grew until he became very great. For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him: Genesis 26:13-14. It is God's desire for you to receive the hundredfold increase and be so blessed that the evidence is clear. God wants to bless you till you become the envy of the unbelievers around you. When you are blessed, it shows. It is not appropriate to continually say that you are blessed without anything to show for it. From today, you will have evidence of God's blessing on your life, in the name of Jesus.

The hundredfold increase is terrific, and it is God's will for you to be a hundredfold of what you are right now by this time next year. However, I have discovered that the hundredfold growth is not all there is to God's blessing, in Deut. 1:11, Moses blesses the children of Israel, The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude. The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you! Deuteronomy 1:10-11.

Even though God has already multiplied Israel to be as the stars of heaven, Moses still prays that God will make them a thousand times more. That is a thousand-fold enlargement. There is truly no limit to God's capacity to bless. He has surely blessed you, or else you would not be where you are today. However, I tell you there is more; believe God for more. Ask Him not for a hundredfold but a thousand-fold abundance, and more.

Prayer/Action

* Thank God for His provisions to increase a thousand times more.

* Pray that you will attain to the maximum all that the Lord has for you.

* Ask that you will increase a thousand times more in everything

TODAY’S PROPHETIC PRAYER: The siege of poverty is broken over me today, I begin to walk in plenty from now on, in the wonderful name of Jesus.

Be Great —Your God is Great

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Job 5:25-27

25 Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth. 26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season. 27 Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good

MORE LESSON: Job 8:7

7 Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.

Friday, 17 October

Memory Verse: Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase. Job 8:7

TODAY’S FASTING FOCUS: Agents of death catch fire;2 Kings 1:8-5

Everything about God is on a grand scale. God does not do His things small: whatever God does, even if it starts small, will never remain small. As big as the Earth is, it is not the biggest planet God made. The planet Jupiter is about 20 times bigger than the Earth. This is not to talk of the sun and stars, which are created immeasurably vast, even though they look smaller to us than they are, because of the great distance. The entire universe is simply beyond description in terms of magnitude. All these are just minute pointers to the greatness of God. God is beyond excellent, and as His offspring, so should you be. It is said that the human brain can generate 3 million ideas per day, and one idea is sufficient to make you great in life. Every provision needed by man for greatness has been deposited in Him by the Great One. You have no reason to be small in destiny.

All the Patriarchs in the Bible who served God ultimately achieved greatness. Abraham, who was given up on having a single son, ended up having eight biological children. However, that was not all; through the covenant, Abraham's spiritual and biological offspring continue to multiply in millions to this day. That cannot come from a small God. Abraham was a great man, but Isaac became even greater, until he became very significant. (Genesis 26:13) Israel also became so much of a force in Egypt that Pharaoh was afraid that they would take over the land from him. When Israel was coming out of Egypt, King Balak of Moab saw them and was worried because they were too great for him. (Numbers 22:1-5). Joseph went to a country as a slave and grew to become the prime minister there. The excellent man Job also, after being tested and cut down, rose and became great again. He eventually had seven sons, three daughters, and twice the wealth he had before the enemy struck him. The enemy struck him.

David was so great that the nations around him were subdued under him. Solomon had wisdom and wealth greater than any earthly king before or after him. Esther also rose from being a slave to become a queen in the palace. Mordecai, from being a gateman, became one who rode on the king's horse, and eventually he became the second in command in that country. These people are a collective testimony of men becoming great because they served a great God. You are serving the same God they served. Compare who you are today with who your God is, and you will realize that you need to be more. Compare what you have achieved to what your God can do, and you will realize that you have not scratched the surface of His possibilities. Rise and take your place. You were created great by a great God; refuse to be small.

Prayer/Action

* Pray for the Spirit of greatness to rest upon you.

* Declare that over your family business and work greatness is your portion

* Ask the Lord to subdue everything that has been standing as an obstacle in your life and destiny.

TODAY’S PROPHETIC PRAYER: I prophesy against every agent of death assigned to waste lives in my family and Church, begin to catch fire now, in the mighty name of Jesus.

Power Packed

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Hebrews 4:12

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

MORE LESSON: Acts 19:11-20

11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: 12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. 13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. 14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. 15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? 16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. 17 And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. 18 And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. 19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

Memory Verse: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:2

The writer of Hebrews has given us fresh revelation on the mystery and efficacy of the Word of God at work in us. In today's passage, three significant things are evident about the power of the Word of God. Firstly, it is quick, which means that when you receive the Word of God, it quickens you. The reason why the Word of God is given to us as a 'quick' capsule is because the enemy wants to poison us until he can slow our lives down completely. Satan and his cohorts are out to stop every good thing that God is doing in and through our lives. They start by slowing down our faith in God for miracles and breakthroughs. Then they slow down our zeal for the things of God and our desire to be in the assembly of the saints of God. Thereafter, they slow down our ability to tarry with God in prayer and deep communion. Furthermore, as soon as communion with God is withdrawn, we lose direction and divine guidance, and the spirit of fear sets in, followed by all manner of sin and lawlessness. Nevertheless, the Living Book declares in II Corinthians 2:11, Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Then comes the ministry of the word in us; it quickens, revives, awakens, and activates us for the things of God. This is why we must continue to live by the Living Book, which provides quick capsules that shield us from the enemy's poison, which can slow us down completely and render us inactive and unresponsive to God's things.

The next major assignment of the Word of God in us is to release immense power. Indeed, the Word of the Lord is powerful enough to save us from anything and everything that stands in our way. This is so because the enemy's device is not only to slow us down but also to leave us disarmed and weak. If you have ever noticed any area in your life that is weak and perhaps a part of your body that is sickly, apply the power of the Word of God and see the anointing of God's Spirit restore and reinvigorate you with the fullness of life. I dare say that a wordless life is a powerless life. As you stand firm on the Word of God today, every slow and blunt area of your life is being quickened and empowered right now by the living Word of God, in Jesus' mighty name.

Thank God for the Living Book. Thank Him for the Word of God.

Prayer/Action

* Pray that by the Power of God at work on your life, nothing will slow you down.

* Pray that God's word in your spirit will guide you to your God ordained destiny.

* Thank God for breaking the siege of the evil one by the power of his word.

TODAY’S PROPHETIC PRAYER: I prophesy into this day, you are a good day, there shall be no evil of any kind come out of you, in the glorious name of Jesus.
