Delivered from Reproach

Wednesday 2 August
READ: 1 Sam. 11: 1 – 11
MORE LESSON: Psa. 42: 10 -11

A reproach is anything that mocks you and poses a mockery to your God. It is anything people see and cast a spiteful word on you. Reproaches should not be condoned; they must be attacked by the violence of the Spirit. Anything that will rubbish the grace of God on your life should be destroyed. In your personal life and family, you must pray fervently against all forms of reproach. There is also a cooperate form of reproach, which is when something happens to an entire group of people that makes them cast their heads down in shame. Reproach can happen to an entire ministry, organization or nation. For one to be delivered from reproach there is need for prayer and there is need for action.
Nahash the Ammonite besieged the land of Jabesh-Gilead. The people knew that he was stronger than they were, so they told him that they would surrender to him and become his slaves if he would just let them live. Any opponent in battle would be satisfied if the enemy surrendered and submitted to him. But
Nahash was not just an opponent; he was a man that was bent on bringing reproach on the people of Gilead. He told them that he would not be satisfied with them merely surrendering and becoming his slaves. He would only desist from killing them if they also allowed him to remove the right eye of every one of them. One would wonder what he stands to gain from removing their right eyes. In fact, since they were ready to become his slaves, they would have been of better use to him if they had the two eyes intact. However, according to him; ...On this condition will I make a covenant with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it for a reproach upon all Israel: 1 Sam. 11:2. He was not just after defeating them; he wanted to disgrace them. He wanted to put a corporate reproach on them.
There are enemies that are not just fighting you because they want something particularly beneficial to themselves. They are just out there to reproach you and your God. Even if you let them have what they want, they will not be satisfied until they disgrace you. They are sworn enemies; they cannot be appeased. These are the kinds of people you must engage the Spirit of judgement against. It was when Saul rose up by the Spirit of judgement and destroyed the wicked that God's people were delivered from reproach. The Bible says that the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly (1 Sam 11:6). This is what is called holy anger! Today get angry against all things that reproach God in your life. You are delivered from all reproaches, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer/Action
* Pray that the Lord will roll away every reproach from you.
* Declare that you shall not see reproach anymore.
* Ask God for direction on what to do against reproaches.

TODAY’S PROPHETIC PRAYER
Father, Heaven shall overshadow me this month and I shall bring forth goodness throughout the month, in the name of Jesus.
