STRENGTH FOR MY DAYS
A Daily Devotional by Bishop David
Open Doors II
Sunday,
6 October
I will go before thee, and make the
crooked places straight: I will break in piece the gates of brass, and cut in
sunder bars of iron. Isaiah 45:2
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Isaiah 45:1-6 Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut; 2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: 3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. 4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me. 5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: 6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.

LESSON:
Revelation 3:7-8 And to
the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is
holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no
man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before
thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and
hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
Doors are openings, portals and access. God
wants us to experience access in all areas of life, therefore God loves to open
doors to us. Struggling to survive was never the original package of God for
man, it was sin that brought in struggling and closed doors. But Jesus came so
that we can have access to what Satan and sin stole from us. In John 10:9 Jesus
said, I am the door, by me if any man enter in; he shall be saved and
shall go in and out; and find pasture. The first and main door that
gives access to all the goodness and greatness of God is Jesus. When we accept
His Lordship, access to all other essentials of destiny fulfilment becomes a
reality. God wants us all to experience open doors. Declare, “Today, I receive
open doors.”
We must learn the principles to discern or
know if an open door is truly from God in order not to enter the wrong door. i)
God-given open doors will never contradict biblical truths and injunctions; He
will never open a door that leads to personal compromise or disobedience to His
instructions, example being “unequally yoked” by using dating sites to get into
marital relationship with unbelievers (II Corinthians 6:14).
ii) Open doors by God will be confirmed or
established by two or three witnesses, whether they be biblical verses, advice
from sound believers, pastor or a well respected person. Through prayer,
discernment and seeking godly counsel, there will be confirmation of God-given
open doors. iii) God-given open doors require dependence on God. God will never
lead us to things that will separate or alienate us from Him. He loves
relationship and insists on being first in our life (Matthew 6:33).
Open doors from God will cause our faith to
be stretched and strengthened; causing us to grow in faith and Christ-likeness.
May we all experience God's open doors.
Prayer/Action
* Ask God for unusual access to definite success as you step
out today.
* Rebuke forces that hinder God-given open doors.
TODAY’S PROPHETIC
PRAYER: I lift my hands and shout hallelujah to
the God who kept me this far and will take me further gloriously, in the
wonderful name of Jesus.
