Show Me Where to Walk

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Psalm 143:1-10

1 Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness. 2 And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified. 3 For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead. 4 Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate. 5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands. 6 I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah. 7 Hear me speedily, O LORD: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit. 8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. 9 Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me. 10 Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

MORE LESSON: John 2:5

5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

Memory Verse: Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. Psalm 143:8 NIV

TODAY’S FASTING FOCUS: My life will not be ended by evil men; 2 Thessalonians 3:2-3; 1 Kings 21:1-16

Jeremiah 10:23 clarifies that: …it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. David, inspired by the Holy Spirit, also said in Psalm 37:23: The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. A desire to do just what I like, and go just where I want, without regard for God, His word or His Spirit, is the root of rebellion, and the primary reason for failure in life and destiny. Isaiah 53:6 says: All we like sheep have gone astray: WE HAVE TURNED EVERYONE TO HIS OWN WAY (emphasis mine).

A close look at the scriptures shows that the failure to go God's way has been the root of failure in life and destiny. Examples include Adam (Genesis 3:24), Samson (Judges 14:3, 16:21), Judas Iscariot (Acts 1:16-20). However, another look into the scriptures shows that all who became great were divinely led. God showed them the way to go, and they gladly followed. Abraham (Genesis 12:1 5; 17:1-7, Genesis 26:1-2), Jacob (Genesis 28:1-8). David (Psalm 23). Jesus our Lord (John 5:30), Peter (Acts 11:12), Paul (Galatians 2 2). If you, too, will become great, then you have to allow the Lord to lead you (Psalm 143:8). God is always willing and ready to lead His children; He is our Father and our Shepherd (Psalm 23).

Note, however, that only willing and obedient people enjoy His leading. They are the ones that eat the good of the land (Isaiah 1:19). How then can you enjoy the leading of the Lord?

First, be sure you are one of His sheep, not a goat. Also, be sure you have genuinely repented of your sins, submitted your entire life to God through Christ, and are genuinely born again (John 3:3-7). Secondly, trust in God, your Father. His way is perfect and His leading is the best. Doing your own thing and going your own way will always lead into trouble but following His way is rest indeed. Jesus admonishes in Matthew 11:29: Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Thirdly, through fervent prayer, ask the Lord to lead you and to show you the way to go. If you ask Him sincerely, He will lead you.

When He leads you, agree with all your heart; do not be like the Israelites, who asked God to show them the way but refused to follow it.

Do whatever He tells you to do promptly and wherever He asks you to go, go there without delay. That is what our fathers in the faith did, and they prospered. So, as Jesus’ mother advised the servants in John 2:5, do as He asks you to do.

Prayer/Action

* Thank God for guidance in your daily walk.

* Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to help to remain sensitive to His leadings.

* Pray that by the leading of God's Spirit, you will enter places that favour will locate you.

TODAY’S PROPHETIC PRAYER: By the power that rescued baby Jesus from Herod, they that seek my life to end it in September, shall themselves end today, in the powerful name of Jesus.
