Standing Before the God of All the Earth

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Revelation 11:1-4

1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. 2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. 3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. 4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.

MORE LESSON: Isaiah 40:31

31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Memory Verse: These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. Revelation 11:4

Standing before the Lord of all the earth gives one the power to do God's work and to fulfil one's destiny. Enoch stood out from the rest in ancient times because he walked with God. He stood before the Lord of all the earth, and God took him (Genesis 5:21 24). Standing before the God of all earth will make you stand out amongst the children of men, just like Enoch.

When God showed Abraham the secret of true dominion, He told him as recorded in Genesis 17:1-2: walk before Me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between Me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. Abraham thereafter made it the habit to stand before the Judge of all the earth.

The task God gave to Moses was beyond human capability. He must see Him who is invisible to be able to do that which was impossible. God gave Moses the secret in Deuteronomy 5:31: But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it. Moses also got so used to standing before the Lord, waiting on and walking with the Lord, that he would not dare to move except the Lord went with him (Exodus 33:13-17).

When Elijah was announcing the judgment of drought against rebellious Israel, he said in 1 Kings 17:1: As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew or rain these years, but according to my word. Also, in 1 Kings 18:15, the power for Elijah’s awe-inspiring ministry came from standing before the Lord of all the earth. His disciple Elisha learnt the same principle and did double what Elijah did. Extraordinary ability comes when we make time to stand before the Lord of all the earth (Psalm 40:1-2).

Jesus, our Lord, also tapped into God's limitless ability to execute His earthly ministry, standing before the Lord of all the earth (Mark 1:35). His disciples, taking after Him, turned their world upside down (Acts 17:6). Beloved, what do you have to do? What task has the Lord given you? What challenges are you facing in your destiny assignment? Stand before the Lord of all the earth, and you will have direct access to God's limitless possibilities.

The answer to the issue confronting you is not in running around; it is in taking your time to wait in the presence of the Lord (Isaiah 40:31).
