Keeping the Heritage II

Text: Mark 7:6-13
More lessons: Col.2:6-8
Bible Reading in one Year: Ezekiel 4-7

Today, we will like to find out how we can know when a doctrine is truly Biblical in order not to be deceived or lose the Christian heritage given to us. A doctrine to be passed on to the younger generation can be said to be truly biblical when it is explicitly taught in the Bible. An issue could be unbiblical meaning it opposes the teachings of the Bible; it could be extra Biblical meaning it is outside of the bible or not mentioned in the Bible, it could be Biblically based meaning it is connected to the teachings of the Bible. We must do all we can to be firm and unchanging about Biblical doctrines to preserve and keep the Christian heritage. I must avoid unbiblical teachings which are any teaching that opposes the Bible's clear teaching, for example a teaching that Jesus sinned is unbiblical opposing Heb.4:15. An extra Biblical teaching can be either good or bad. We must weigh such in the light of the Bible or go for counsel from sound church leaders: example to observe holidays is neither good nor bad, each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.Rom.14:5. Teachings can also be based on Biblical teachings for example it is not written in the bible that “thou shall not smoke” but we can assert that the practice should be avoided based on I Cor.6:19-20 that says we should glorify God in our body which is His temple. Biblical doctrines are explicitly taught in the Bible; example -the infallibility of the Bible, that the Bible is the final authority for Christian conduct and work II Tim. 3:16-17. All other claims of authority must be thoroughly scrutinized in the light of the Bible; - God created the heaven and the earth Gen.1:1; -the sinfulness of man. Rom.3:23; -the virgin birth of Jesus Matt.1:20-25; death and resurrection of Jesus I Cor.15:3-1 1 and several others.

One must not confuse these categories to be able to preserve and keep the Christian heritage. To teach that the virgin birth is an optional doctrine a Christian is free to believe or not to believe is to reject a core teaching of the Bible. It is heresy to present a Biblical teaching as non-essential. People's opinion and preferences must not be given the weight of God's law as warned against in the reading of today. Every true Christian must speak and teach firmly when the scripture is plain, be careful to avoid dogmatism in extra Biblical matters as many have said in essentials unity, in non-essentials diversity and in all things charity. We must do everything to preserve the Christian faith that the Lord Jesus can meet faith on earth when He comes again. Luke 18:8.

Prayer/Action
* I will abide in the truth continually in Jesus name.
* I will not be shifted out of the faith by any falsehood in Jesus name.
* The Christian heritage will be preserved in my time in Jesus name.

Keeping the Heritage I

Text: II Jn.9-13
More lessons: I Tim.4:13-16
Bible Reading in one Year: Ezekiel 1-3

Heritage means the features belonging to the culture of a particular society such as tradition, languages or building, which exist from the past and still have importance in the present. The Christian heritage must be preserved in the face of passing fashions and practices in the world wherein we dwell. Some have started to lose sight of the fact that though Christianity teaches grace and love abundantly, it is a faith with a definite system of beliefs with definite content. If Christianity will not be phased out among the upcoming generations then the heritage must be preserved by all members of the body of Christ. The first place to start this preservation is to clearly and firmly recognize that Christianity has doctrines. Christian doctrine is a clear articulation of Biblical truth. Doctrine has to do with preserving our Christian heritage and giving a legacy to future generation of Christians. Doctrine is content of teaching intended to be accepted and believed as truth. Removing doctrine which comprises the essence of the Christian faith is to become non-Christian. The advantages of learning and teaching doctrines include; i) It helps cure our minds of childishly subjective interpretations of the Bible. ii) It is both for discipleship of our minds, spiritual formation of our hearts helping to nurture our relationship with God and people. iii) Correct doctrine helps us mature and guard against sin giving stability to our lives. iv) Doctrine gives power to witness, encourages believers and it is the foundation of fellowship among believers. v) Biblical doctrines consistently taught is an anchor that keeps us from drifting from scriptural moorings taught by Jesus and His disciples while on earth.

What we believe affects what we do therefore to keep our Christian heritage we must all have good and sound knowledge of Biblical doctrines much more now that we are in the last days when false prophets and false doctrines are multiplying. The second way to preserve the Christian heritage and stay in the truth till Jesus comes again is to attend Bible studies regularly in a Bible believing church.

Gradually, pursuits of life are making many abandon Bible studies attendance to the detriment of keeping their Christian heritage and passing it to their children. Some even attend Bible studies and leave their family members at home. Anyone who does not attend Bible studies will soon end up with a dead faith and such a person may miss heaven at last. Ask yourself in the last one month whether you created time to attend Bible studies as you should? Finally to preserve the heritage we must all be like the Bereans who studied the Scriptures to check whether what they were taught were so Acts 17:11. Evaluate yourself today. Is your Christianity still alive? Are you passing it to your children? Will it still be in your family after you are long dead?

Prayer/Action
* Father, let the Christian heritage live in my time and beyond in Jesus name
List five ways you can preserve the Christian heritage in your home and family and begin to do those things immediately.

God Cares for You II

Text: Mark. 4:35-41
More lessons: Matt.10:29-31
Bible Reading in One Year: Titus

Today, we want to use two analogies from the Bible to show that God cares for you. And the same day, when the even was come, He saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, 'Master, carest thou not that we perish?' And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith? Mark 4:35-41. The storm was so great and the devil had the audacity to attack the ship with Jesus inside.

This is a lesson we should learn; even with the presence of Jesus, there could still be an attack on your ship but the question as the disciples asked is: Master, carest thou not that we perish? He cares! And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. In Matthew 14:22-32, the devil re-strategised. This time Jesus was not there when he attacked. Jesus told His disciples to go to the other side of the lake while He went to pray. When the disciples were in the middle of the sea, the devil attacked them; he sent a contrary wind to destroy them. The devil didn't attack at the brink of the water; he knew they would swim and escape to the land. Moreover, the attack came in the early hours of the day when no man would be able to help them. But when it looked as if there was no more hope, Jesus appeared walking on the water. That is what the Bible means when it says God will not leave you nor forsake you. Whatever situation you are passing through today, God is connected to you; He cares for you and He will never leave you nor forsake you. At the end of the day, the storm not only ceased, but Peter also had a testimony that he walked upon the water. I see you walk upon the waters of your troubles, in the name of Jesus. All you need to do is to never give in to Satan’s blackmail that God does not care; it will discourage you and weaken your faith. Don't give up your faith. Hold on to God and trust His Word; it will not fail.

Prayer/Action
* Tell the devil, “I will walk on top of my challenges, in Jesus’ name.”
* Rebuke every type of fear and satanic threats over your destiny.
* Lay your hands on your head and declare that you will not sink in destiny.

God Cares for You I

Text: Heb. 13:5-6
More Lessons: I Pet. 5:7
Bible Reading in One Year: Psalms 146-150

There is a question people often ask when in the midst of adverse unexplainable situations and circumstances. Does God care? When John the Baptist was in prison, he expected Jesus to do something to get him out but Jesus did not do anything. Also the Scripture records that a friend that Jesus loved was sick to the point of death and his sisters sent for Jesus but He didn't come on time, so Jesus' friend, Lazarus, died from the sickness. Martha asked as other people ask, Lord, Don't you care that . . .? Lk. 10: 40. This same question was asked by Martha when she was busy and tired in the kitchen and her sister was not helping her. When there are difficulties, failures or marital problems; when something negative happens to you or when others are receiving letters of promotion but you get the opposite; when those that got married after you have given birth to five children but you are still waiting on God, the question you ask is: God do You really care? I want you to know that God cares for you. Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Deut. 31:6 That is what God is saying. Whatever the situation you are facing, God says He will not leave you nor forsake you. For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people. 1 Sam 12:22 Are you a child of God? Then the Lord will not forsake you; He will keep you and help you. When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

Ps 27:10. A mother may forsake her sucking child but the Lord will not forsake you. Isa.49:15 How can you have these promises and allow anything to tell you that God does not care for you? In every area of your life and no matter what you are passing through, hear what God says today: ''I CARE FOR YOU.'' Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you: I Peter 5:7. More than the care of a wife, husband or pastor, God cares. All you need to do is to cast your care, worry and trouble upon Him because He cares for you. This is the testimony of Peter who had been with Jesus and his conclusion is that God cares for you.
Only cast your care upon Him.

Prayer/Action
* Give thanks to God for He cares for you and for all His promises over your destiny.
* Praise God for being a faithful God.
* Tell God you believe His faithfulness over you will not fail.
* Read Psa. 23:1-6 and claim the promises.

Who do you want to See?

Text: John 12:20-21
More lessons: John 14: 18-21
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 143-145

What people come to see in church and at every gathering this days is unheard of. We come to church most of the time and there is no single encounter with Jesus, neither is anyone asking questions of how to have an encounter with Him. The Bible says there were some among those who came to worship, which means the Greeks were just among many that came to worship at the feast. Let us say 5000 went to worship, and among the 5000, maybe there were about 50 Greeks. 'Some Greeks', this is a very serious matter, all of them came to worship but the Greeks came to Philip with a request. The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus: Jn. 12:21. These people said we came to see Jesus. And I ask, what then did other people come to see? W ere there no other people there too? And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast: v20. There were more people there of course, but the Greeks came with only one agenda, to see Jesus.

Until you begin to thirst to see Jesus, you may forever remain on the same bus stop. There are many policemen that work for presidents of different country but had never seen the president. Some of them are commissioners of police and they may never have seen the president. The pulpit is filled with ministers who have never seen Jesus. Many came to worship but these Greeks said, Philip, take us to the Man. We have seen dancing, acrobatic display by men, but we want to see Jesus. There have to be a time in your life when you will have to pause and ask yourself if Jesus is present in everything you do, if you can't find Him, begin to ask for Him until you see Him. It is in seeing Jesus that we can experience His glorious presence. He is the brightness of God's glory and the express image of His person (Heb. 1:3). It is a pity that many believers are not looking for Jesus today. I don't mean being born again, but seeking Jesus beyond being born again experience. And that is why people come to a church today and if they don't see what satisfies them, they pack their load and move to another church. He said… I will come to you… the world seeth me no more; but ye see me John 14:18-19. The problem is not with Him coming to us but with us seeing Him when He comes. You will never be able to see Jesus as far as you have an idol of what you want to see in your heart. He will always come to His own but are we able to discern His presence. This is what the gathering of the people of God should be, a place where men see Jesus. These Greeks knew fellowship without seeing Jesus is not a complete one. Who do you want to see in your gathering?

Prayer/Action
* Ask God to increase your faith and expose your spiritual state to you today.
* Pray that as God reveals your life to you, you will be broken and humble enough to make necessary adjustment.
Ask yourself who is Jesus to me and who am I to Jesus.

Who are your Friends?

Text: Mk. 2:1-12
More lessons: 1 Kings 12:1-14
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 137-142

I have discovered in life and destiny that, whoever you are, you need help. Most of the time, the supernatural help of God comes in display or manifestation through men. The man sick of palsy needed to be carried from the point where he was to the point where Jesus must see him and help him. He could not help himself, if he could help himself, he would have not remained in that condition for that long. Oftentimes in some life's situations, a man may lose all the ability to help himself. There are so many leprosy situations in peoples' life that cannot be seen physically but they are there. We read about how some four men helped the sick man to get to Jesus. A man who stands alone is in danger of falling. The Bible says Two are better than one… but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up Eccl. 4:9-10. Good friends are assets in times of trouble. You need people to help you. Friends can be source of encouragement in times of trouble. Also, bad friends can be the undoing of a man. So the friends you keep have either negative or positive effects on your life.
The friends you keep can make or mar you. The type of people you keep around you or hang up with will determine how you may likely end up. Y our purpose and goals in life should determine the type of friends you keep. Friends have influence on your journey in life and they can determine if you will get to your destination or not. It is wisdom to identify each of the friends you have and what effect they have on you. Whoever is in your life and does not have anything to do with the plans and purposes of God for you could not have been by the plan of God, he is an extra luggage and will slow you down. This man's friends made every effort to bring him to Jesus. As soon as the major assignment of bringing him to Jesus was performed, we never heard about them anymore. The friends you keep should take you closer to Jesus. Any type of friendship that does not take you to Jesus will take Jesus from you. But for the good friends of this man he would have died in his infirmity. His friends were tools to his deliverance and healing.
God desires healthy relationships for you. God has placed people around you who can help you reach your goals and heights He has destined you for. You need to identify them and know the part they are to playing in your destiny. Cherish relationship, cherish the people around you, you may need them in your days of trouble when no one is there to help.

Prayer/Action
* Ask God to turn away every negative company masquerading as friends around you.
* Ask God to lead you to friends of life not adventures and friendship merchants.
* Pray that you will be a productive friend in all your relationship.

The Heart, not the Message

Text: Luke 8:4-15
More Lessons: John 8:31-36
Bible Reading in One Year: Psalms 133-137

A friend once asked me why there are so many churches and powerful preachers in Nigeria, yet unrighteousness abounds. Before I could pose an answer, he concluded, I think there is something wrong with messages that are preached. It is either the preachers are not preaching the right stuff to change the people or the messages lack power to convict men of sin, righteousness and judgment. My friend may be right, but I also think there is something more as the Scripture reading explains. The sower planted the same seeds at different locations, but what influenced the performances was the nature of the land. Those which fell by the way side were trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured the seeds. Some fell upon a rock and as soon as they sprang up, they withered because there was no moisture. Some fell among thorns and were choked up by the thorns that sprang up with it. Yet others fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bore fruit a hundredfold.
In the explanation of the parable, Jesus says the seed is the Word. No one can doubt the potency of God's Word. If the Word fails to produce result, it is not the inefficacy of the Word or of the sower, but the land, and in this case the heart of men that influences the performance of the seed. It is unfortunate that some listeners in church have the hearts that are vulnerable to birds of the air. Such hearts are those that wonder about when preaching is going on. They hardly hear anything in church. Even if they hear, the Word does not get home with them. The enemies of their souls simply pick everything. Some others have hearts that cannot stay upon God's Word for a season. Although they hear and even respond to altar call, when their flesh demands for things contrary to the Word they hear, they easily submit to their flesh. These are believers who cannot resist temptation because they are not deep rooted in the Word. Some other believers have hearts full of the cares of this world. Although they seemingly love God, they also love the world. They are those who use the Word as a cloak for covetousness. You never can be a friend of the world and please God in anyway, as the Scripture cannot be broken (1John 2:15-17). The cares of the world will stunt the growth of the Word. It was the same seeds that fell on fertile ground and produced fruit in thirty, sixty and hundred folds. Anytime God's Word finds a fertile ground, the fullness of its potential will manifest. God's Word is perfect, converting the soul. It is a lamp to the feet of men, a light to the path of them who believe. Make your heart ready today for God's Word, and the preaching you hear daily will produce effect in your life.

Prayer/Action
* Lord, make my heart fertile for Your Word.
* I declare that the Word I hear daily will profit me.
* I receive grace for obedience to God's Word.

By the Word of Your Testimony

Text: Matt. 8: 1- 4
More lessons: Rev. 12: 1 1
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 127-132

I am still amazed at how much we can learn from this leprous man. The man said to Jesus: I know you can do it, and Jesus said ‘‘oh sure, you belief I can, sure I will do it for you’’. So for testifying to Jesus I know you can, he was simply testifying against his leprosy, and of course his leprosy bowed to the word of his testimony. There is hope for a tree, the Bible says, even if it is cut down. Hope for a tree that is cut down? When you cut down a tree you will think that is over for that tree, but Job said no, there is hope for that tree, even if it is cut down. And then I love the next verse that says even if its root becomes weak in the ground. Job 14: 7 says there is hope. You too can join the team of testifiers. That verse that, for there is hope of a tree, if it been cut down, that it will sprout again. I love that. Of course the man who was testifying was a man who had been cut down. In one day, everything about him disappeared; his wealth, his children and all. He became a shadow of himself only within few days, a man people came to reverence and to greet in a beautiful sitting room became a man sitting inside ashes.
He was cut down, his wife said to him, “curse God and die, it is better to die than to see you like this. We don't want to see you like this, we prefer to bury you and say you die than people to come and see you like this.” He was a man cut down, so you better listen to him because he was speaking from experience. I love this word that there is hope for a tree if it be cut down, that it will sprout again and the tender branch thereof will not cease.
When trees are cut down, the branches, and the root dried up in the ground can just smell water, it didn't receive the water, it only perceived the water, it said just with a smell of water, it will bud. This means with the slightest connection with God, there is hope for a hopeless situation. And what is the slightest connection? Y our testimony, what you say to your situations. People are good at saying when they are sick that, “Ahh, this thing will kill me”. Have you heard women in the maternity before, it can be a terrible place and you know the funniest part of it, you hear certain women pronouncing curses on their husbands. You must testify the word of God always, because that is the way by which we connect with God and then overcome. So go ahead and testify. Tell your mountain I will see your end, I see you moving away, you will not terminate me, I will prevail over you. I hear God saying. ...just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you: Num. 14:28.

Prayer/Action
* Command your matter to speedly respond to the word of God in your mouth.
* Call every storm around you by name and command them to be still right now.
Take the following scriptures to God in prayer- Psa. 18:29, 33, 37-38.

Get Desperate for a Change

Text: Matt. 8: 1- 4
More lessons: Luke 19: 1- 10
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 120-126

In this passage, the Bible said that a young man walked up to Jesus and said I know you can heal me if you want. There are two issues in that place, one is what the man knows about the Lord Jesus and secondly, he was desperate for a change. I am sure you know that leprosy was a terrible disease in Israel. If you have leprosy in those days, you were set aside somewhere away from the city. No matter who you were, immediately leprosy was noticed in you, you are taken out of the camp. When even Miriam became leprous, as the sister of the President and the Commander- in- Chief, she was taken out of the camp. If a leper had to come to town in Israel, he must tie a bell on his leg and as he carries each leg, he must shout ‘‘unclean’’. So when you hear a leper is coming, you jump into the bush and allow him to have the way, and after he had passed, you will allow the atmosphere to clear before you come out to continue your journey. But this man struggled to get into the temple in town, I am sure he hid behind the door because nobody would have allowed him by the rule in Israel to sit in the congregation with other people. He must have hidden himself somewhere.

And as soon as Jesus showed up, he pounced on him and said, “Look, just one word, if you choose to, you can heal me”. That was the beginning of the change of his situation, he was leprous, and he desired to prevail over this terrible sickness. His dream and his longing was to see a change and restoration of his destiny .The first step he took was to meet the Master. He did everything he could like Zacchaeus, the bible says Zacchaeus was a short man, and if he was going to stay in the midst of the people, there was no way he would be able to see Jesus because he was too short to be identified in a crowd. But with all his wealth, and because he was determined to experience a change in his life, he went and climbed on a tree.

When you are desperate with your situation, solution will come. The reason we fail over obstacles of life is because we are not desperate for results. Get desperate, and don't mind what people will say. Express your confidence in God by the steps you take based on the conviction you have about Him and watch Him step into your situation for a change. A desperate man does not complain about the price of result, he simply determines to go the whole length at all cost scripturally possible.

Prayer/Action
* Ask God for the wisdom, direction and strength to do all that is needful for a change.
* Ask God for speedy result in the place of prayer.
* Ask God to help you never to quit in the race of destiny.

You can conquer that Mountain

Text: Zech. 4: 7 (GNB)
More lessons: Isa. 45:1-2
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 119

Do you know what a mountain is? I am sure you know mountains have spiritual connotations. Mountains are issues of life that are high and difficult, far above what men can handle. They are also things that stand as obstacles on the pathway of glory. And looking at it from the physical point of view, mountains are tall huge things, and only very few of them have been conquered by man. Some years ago, we were told that a young American at the age of 13, became the youngest person ever to climb a mountain, and the first thing he did when he got to the top of the mountain was to call his mother, and guess what he was saying to the mother, he said, “I made it, I conquered this mountain”. I also heard CNN (Cable Network News) saying he conquered, so I started wondering, what does it mean to conquer a mountain for a 13 year old boy?
Did he break it to pieces? Did he bore hole inside it? Did he fight against it? For me, I have always known that to conquer is to go to war, fight a battle and win. So I asked myself, "What fighting did the young man do?" Then it dawned on me that he actually did conquer because the mountain stood like something that nobody could ever climb. So when you do what is unexpected, you have conquered your mountain. Hence, in life and destiny when you deal with your situation with evidence that you have defeated what it stands for, you have conquered. You conquer a mountain when you stand right on top of it, and tell it, “I conquered you”. If the boy said he conquered that mountain because he stood top of it, conquering a mountain then has to mean standing on top of it, that is, standing on top of what is taller and bigger than you in destiny. Remember Jesus said that the kingdom of God suffers violence, and only men of force can take it.

You must understand He was not saying that the road to the kingdom is impossible, rather he meant that there will be challenges and difficulties on the path of the kingdom, things will confront us and give us an impression that the kingdom of God is impossible for man but He said, “be of good cheer, I have overcome”, which means he has become a testifier against an impossibility. It then means that since He has done it ahead of us, a precedence of a victory has been created. I want to let you know today that there is no mountain on the face of the earth that has not got a precedence of defeat. Cancer has been defeated by prayer; HIV -AIDS has been healed before. I do not know a sickness on earth that has defied the name of Jesus. It could defy medical science, but it cannot defy the God that made the heavens and the earth. I have not seen a problem that is bigger than God. None! Indeed obstacles as great as mountains will disappear before you today, in Jesus name.

Prayer/Action
* Ask God to make every crooked place straight in your life (Isa. 45:2) according to His promises.
* Tell every known mountain of your life that you will sincerely conquer them.
* Speak to every mountain that they become low ground, in Jesus mighty name.

Unmasking the Spirit of Esau II

Text: Gen 32:6-12
More lessons: Malachi 1:2-3
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 114-118

In unmasking the spirit of Esau, there are realities of the character of Esau we must uncover to walk in victory over its deception and fire quenching weaponry. Esau was an opposition leader. He was an opposition image. He learnt that his brother was coming home and what he did was to gang up an army and he was there leader. So as to confront the man that God has chosen. Genesis 32:6 …We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him. Everywhere you see images of opposition that's an Esau. Turn them to grass for easy dealing. The easiest way to deal with your enemy is to turn them to grass.
Turn him to grass and acquire fire.

Secondly, an Esau is an unrelenting adversary. That is somebody who takes offence against you again and again and refuses to be appeased. A believer doesn't do fight to finish, but there are enemies in destiny that make up their mind that whatever it will take them, they are ready to terminate you. I turn them to grass over you in the name of Jesus. Act 23:14; And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, we have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul. There are enemies that have sworn like the ones who had sworn against Paul. They said we bind ourselves to a fast, none shall eat until we have seen the end of Paul- those are sworn enemies. They are Esau's friends.

Thirdly, Esau was a stubborn pursuer. Those are people who pursue a man's destiny even when he is pleaded for. They don't accept apology, they insist on pursuing a man. There are spirits like that; who take delight in taunting men and women with the flashes of guilt from their past and thereby restricting their ability to press in to destiny fulfilment. Sometimes, this spirit manifests as familiar or transgenerational spirits that work in the life of all members of a particular family or ethnic group. Gen 32:11 Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children. This spirit demands to be avenged over the fathers’ wrongs from the children which they know nothing about. It seeks to wipe out entire generations. Just as Esau attempted over Jacob and his entire family. That is why you sometimes see a repeated evil or disaster over a family to the extend of gradual generational extinction. I forbid such spirits and forces over you and your entire family. Prayers, fastings, scriptural confessions, corporate anointing, and deliverance services are keys to overcoming these types of enemies.

Prayer/Action
* Ask God to expose every unrelenting enemy of your destiny and terminate them.
* Ask that the blood of Jesus will speak for your destiny over any generational evil.
With a fast, declare every re-occurring disaster ended in your family.

Unmasking the Spirit of Esau I

Text: Obad. 1:17-18
More lessons: Hab. 12:16-17
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 109-113

There are dozens of lessons to learn about what not to do and how not to conduct oneself as a fire bearing Christian from the character of Esau the son of Isaac. Esau was a man who had no control over his emotion. Hunger finished him and he sold his birthright simply because he was hungry and could not persist enough. That is why God refers to him as stubble. Any time you trade your Christianity for anything else, you become a grass; fire will finish you one day. It doesn't matter what that thing is, people around you may not see anything wrong with it. People around you may even encourage you, but God knows in heaven that you have become grass like Esau. Fire will finish you, because at the end of age all sinners will go to hell. For this lack of control over your emotion, your tongue, the environment, falling into temptation frequently- check your fire!

Esau was the brother of Jacob but he was an arch enemy of Jacob. That was why God desired that Jacob should be fire while Esau should be grass. Because Esau is an enemy of God. It does matter the story the moment God chose a man, you better follow that man. It pleases God that Jacob should become the owner of the heritage of Abraham, whatever story you and I heard about Jacob not regarding that is God's choice and it stands. Don't ever put yourself to what God has chosen. The choice of God is Jacob and everybody who works against Jacob is an enemy of God, not enemy of Jacob alone but the enemy of God who made Jacob what he is. He chose Jacob; he is His choice, so anyone who works against Jacob works against Jehovah. I say to you, whoever works against your destiny works against Jehovah and will be turned to grass in Jesus' mighty name. I turn every work of the enemy against you to grass in the name of Jesus. I have never heard God say He hates someone until it came to Esau why- he confronted what God has chosen.

When God says He hates you even dying will not help the matter, it will make the matter worst. The spirit of Esau represents every negative power, thought and lust that is designed to stop the flames of God's fire in your life. Embrace the principles of the God of Jacob and stop the tantrums of the spirit of Esau in your life today.

Prayer/Action
* Pray against every home born enemies at home or at work.
* Declare every enemy position against you ordinary grass and command them to be consumed by fire.
* Pray that the fire of God upon your life will not go down.

Fire Extinguishers II

Text: 2 Cor. 6:14-16
More lessons: Gal. 5:19-26
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 106-108

Last time we saw one enemy of the burning flames of God's power in the life of the believer. We will go ahead to examine a few others. First, you can lose the fire by inconsistent prayer life. You pray for one hour today, you pray for two hours tomorrow, you pray for ten minutes thereafter you can't keep the fire that way. The fire of God must be kept consistently. And the only way it can burn is by ensuring that you are consistent with it. Be consistent with your prayer life.

Don't let anything easily distract you from your hour of prayer, be it official assignment, domestic chores, activities in the house e.t.c. let people know you that when it comes to the time of your devotion with God you are consistent, nobody can take it from you. When you are not consistent in your prayer life you lose your fire.
So also with insufficient prayer life. What we are referring to here is the quantity of prayer. Can you imagine you bring up a Christian for five solid years and his whole prayer time in a day is not more than thirty minutes? You have been a Christian for three years and people still need to remind you about prayer meetings and Bible studies; it is not sufficient. Jesus asked His disciples how come you can’t keep watch with me for an hour. That is the minimum. A believer should pursue it. Whether you break it to thirty minutes, fifteen minutes or three times a day minimum for you to be able to say I keep my fire on; you must be able to say by the grace of God I kept my watch for one hour. But for some, one hour prayer is the beginning of prayer. With insufficient prayer, you can not possess anything.

Thirdly, wrong environment does not allow fire. If you put on your candle light and you stay outside, it will quench. Mind where you carry your fire to, mind who your friends are. Wrong environment quenches fire, anywhere there is water fire cannot stay; mind your friends that are water- fire extinguishers. If you have a life partner that is a fire extinguisher escape, don't because of marriage go to hell. You have a very good friend in school very caring but he is a sinner, escape! It is better to die in poverty than to collect all the help on the face of the earth and go to hell. Some, your best friends are unbelievers, first class die hard unbelievers who don't believe in your way of life nor the God you serve. Those who have no morality, no standard. No direction. If you walk with them, you will live like them. Watch out for fire extinguishers. They are everywhere these days.

Prayer/Action
* Ask God to help you keep your faith in this season of negative influences.
* Pray that you will not live a careless, and reckless life.
* Ask God to quicken you in the place of prayer until the bow of steel can be broken by your hand.

Fire Extinguishers I

READ: I Cor. 6:9-12
More lessons: Rom 12:1-2
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 103-105

No matter the pleasure that sin gives you, it is temporary. And the punishment at the end of it is greater. So why stay in a thing that you will enjoy for a moment and it will end and despite the fact that it was short lived, you still pay for it dearly. First, sin breaks you away from your contact with God who is the source of your loss and when you break your contact with God, you cannot possess the blessing of Abraham.
Moreover, a sinner is an abomination before God whether in church or out of church; he cannot inherit anything of God. Whether he is a tongue talker or not, so far he is a sinner he will not possess any inheritance. If you are in sin, you cannot possess anything. You can do it secretly and think nobody knows, if you do not settle with the Lord, you are in trouble. Nobody may talk about it, you may even not have punishment, but can a man keep fire in his blossom and not be burnt? If you must possess your possession you must acquire the fire of God because the fire is the only thing that your enemy cannot resist. No grass resists fire. Let's see a few of the many things that can quench the fire of God's spirit right on the altar of our hearts. You can lose your fire by being a talkative. There are certain things that are not directly sin, but bring forth sin.
Talking is not a sin, but when you lose control over your ability to talk, you step into sin and you lose your contact with your possession. This year, your possession will reach you, but friend, be careful with your tongue. Be careful with some expensive jokes, jokes that can make you lose your spiritual defence and sensitivity. All things should be done decently and moderately. A believer is careful where he is even with his tongue. The Bible says the tongue is a little fire and it can destroy everything you have accumulated; one unguided, misused sentence out of your mouth could destroy the rest of your life. One single talk more than necessary for the rest of your life you could be struggling to correct it and you will never be able to because words are like egg when they drop to the ground; you never can put it together again. Beloved, mind what you say, mind how much you say. Your tongue among other things can be your fire extinguisher.

Prayer/Action
* Pray that you will be sensitive to things that can truncate your faith.
* Pray that your tongue will not be a fire to destroy your destiny.
* Pray that your tongue will be a source of blessing to you and everyone around you.

A New Song II

Text: Psa. 126:1-2
More Lesson: Isaiah 55:12-13
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 100-102

Songs are powerful testimonies. The psalms and songs of David are still some of the most powerful musical literature today because they were not composed out of fiction but were by-products of encounters! The encounters that will make your story a best seller and your songs a must dance will catch up with you now in Jesus name. There are songs men write but there are songs that God gives. It is the song of the Lord that lasts forever. Y our blessing will endure.

The sound of your song will not fade out but it will stand out! All you need is one new song, not two but one. The one miracle that will settle certain things in your life permanently is a new song. Receive it now in Jesus name! The doctor might have been chorusing a song of hopelessness but I superimpose the song of total healing over your life now in Jesus name. From our anchor text, we see the gravity of the miracle the Lord gave His people. It was so much that they were both laughing and singing at the same time. What a Joy! Joy unspeakable is coming your way this year in Jesus name. God has a habit of embarrassing His children with glorious breakthroughs.

I don't care how long you have waited, this time around, your turn around will be embarrassing; it will be too good to be true! The Kind of favour that will make you a wonder to yourself and to the world around you will locate you now in Jesus name. You have cried too long, right now I reschedule you for singing instead of crying and beauty instead of ashes and the joy of the Lord instead of mourning. The devil will not rejoice over you anymore.

Every area of your life where you have danced to the enemy's tone, let power change hand in the name of Jesus. God is the song and laughter filler. He did it before, He can do it again. Take your own in Jesus name. When God is through with you, even the trees and mountains will dance and clap their hands and even your enemies will dance with you. It is your season of new songs.

Prayer/Action
*Pray that the season of pain, sadness and setback ends for you.
*Declare that it is your season of new songs.
*Declare that your life will attract people to know and glorify God.
Begin to sing songs of victory and greatness. ?

A New Song I

Text: Psa. 40:3
More Lesson: Psa. 89:15-1
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 97-99

It's impossible to separate joy and rejoicing from singing and dancing. Songs are the most natural products of the outbursts of joy or pain, that’ s why even crying is singing a song, inaudible as it may be, it fits all the characteristics of a song. The evidence of breakthrough is the new song you sing. Figuratively, everybody is singing a certain song. It's either the song of pleasure or the song of pain, the song of peace or songs of war, songs of faith and hope or songs of fear and depression. Songs are expressions of our present experience.

I declare that this year, God will give you a miracle that will cause you to break out into singing in Jesus name. You are coming out of that circumstance with songs of victory in Jesus name! Our God is a God of new songs. David the psalmist (Psa. 46) puts it like this; He gives songs in the mid-night! Looks at the children of Israel after 430 years of bondage, God gave them a new song to sing. The scriptures records that Moses, even though he was a stammerer composed a new song and taught all of God's people as they sang songs of victory.

That same God that can modulate and re vamp a 430 year old song of torment and captivity to choruses of Joy will turn to you now! I prophecy that it is your turn for a miracle in Jesus mighty name. The only songs that would be heard from your tabernacle this year will be songs of Joy and celebration in Jesus name.

When Jesus our saviour was born, angels appeared in the clouds and sang a new song. I decree and declare that in the name of Jesus by angelic arrangement, the announcement of your new song will be heard on the mountain tops for all the world to see in Jesus name. For every new season of your life God has a new song for you to sing. There is a song for every season. There is a song you must sing this season, and every pharaoh of darkness that has snuffed the song out of your mouth, may the hand of God snuff life out of them in Jesus name. It's enough of dancing to the enemy's tune. Arise, sing a new song in Jesus name.

Prayer/Action
*Thank God for the gift of a new song.
*Pray for God to give you a song that is capable of turning every sorrow in your life to songs of praise.
*Pray against every plan of the enemy to make you sing songs of sorrow and shame.

Intimacy and communion II

Text: 2 Cor. 13:14
MORE LESSONS: Song. 5:8-16
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 94-96

The second epistle to the Corinthians was written from Philippi, a city of Macedonia. How much do you want the manifest presence of God? It is true that the presence of God is everywhere but the manifest presence of God is not everywhere. That is why we must desire to deepen intimacy with the Lord on a personal level. The glory of God beams out of intimacy with the divine. Wealth is a by- product of valuing the presence of God. Peace and joy are exclusive to those who have tasted communion with God. Do you want holiness? Don't just bump into the place of the presence of God, stay there until something happens. Are you sick in your body or mind? Like chaff in fire, no unclean spirit or disease can survive the holy presence of God.

All the frustrations of the past vanish in the compelling presence of the Most High. Do you need wisdom to handle situations of life? Get a hold of the scriptures until it comes alive to you and the word of God will become for you the wisdom you are looking for. This is why the partaking of the holy communion table is imperative and should be observed regularly by all who want to experience the ever increasing power of God because it re-awakens us to a fresh revelation of the blood and body of Jesus Christ where all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge is hid. Col. 2:3.

The communion capsules are intimacy initiators. That's why according to Paul the apostle, many eat of the holy communion and are sickly or die because they didn't partake of it with communion consciousness which he called "discerning the Lord's body".1 Corinthians 11:29. Complacency in the spirit is an expression of the spirit of pride because it tells God there is no need to strive for more of you because where I am is enough. But just enough is not enough, irrespective of how much of God’s grace and favour is upon you, there is more of God in God to be enjoyed by those who will pay the price of the extra mile mark to become people of an extraordinary mark in this generation. Are there still idols left in your life that are contending for the presence of God? How much do you want the presence of God?

Prayer/Action
*Glorify God because he has chosen you to be a carrier of his presence.
*Pray that wherever you go and whatever you do, God's presence will be evident.
*Pray for a deeper communion with the Holy Spirit.
Welcome the Holy Spirit afresh and fellowship with him constantly.

Intimacy and Communion I

Text: Psalms 119:2
More lessons: Deut. 4:29
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 91-93

Whatever we regularly commune with, we attach intimately to. The purpose of prayer, worship, study , congregational meetings, and every other exercise, activity and act of service we do in Christ is that as we commune with the Father in the name of Jesus and by the leading of the Holy Spirit, we may intimately know him for ourselves. Communion is powerful. Friendship without communion is a mirage on the highway. You cannot be intimate with a person you have refused to relate with.

This is why faith in Jesus is more than just another religion, it is a relationship. It is not man trying to reach God, it is God stretching his mighty hand and loving heart towards frail and dying humans all over the world filling us with His love and touching us in ways no one else can.

It is about sons and daughters of Zion getting lost in The Father's embrace. It's more relational than functional. It’s not just about principles, it's more about the divine presence that empowers the principles. We must press into the divine presence to enjoy intimacy with God. Moses saw the burning bush for a start, he saw the Red Sea split like walls on either sides, he saw ten plaques from God descending on the most power nation at the time, he saw food dropping from the skies for the children of God, amongst other things and in my opinion he witnessed more manifestations of the literal presence of God than any singular leader in history.

Nevertheless something kept burning inside of him with flames so hot and wild until he couldn’t hold it anymore one day in prayer and he cried out and said 'shew me your glory'... And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. Exodus 33:18. That is not the cry of a church goer, nor a give me-give me get rich fast Christian. It is the voice of one that is overwhelmed by deep hunger and strong desire to dive into depths of intimacy with the Father. Technology today has surrounded us with fast food, fast cars, fast communication, fast therapy e.t.c. So the 21st century Christian is tempted to import the idea that we don't have to wait for even God. We can just fast track our morning prayer over a cup of coffee and there is no harm done. But the Word of God insists that we cannot find God except we seek him with all our heart. When it comes to the pursuit of the presence of God, until everything goes into it, nothing comes out of it. No price is too high to pay for the presence of God. For he is more real than everybody in the world put together.

Prayer/Action
*Thank the father for continuous access into his presence.
*Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with deep hunger and thirst for consistent communion with him.
*Pray for discipline to seek God diligently.
Seek God diligently and consistently.

The 'Let there be' Dimension II

Text: Mark 11:23
More lessons: Ezekiel 37:1-10
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 88-90

When in the beginning there was chaos, God didn't say darkness leave, He said Light be! Understanding that phrase is very important for anyone who will walk in authority in this season and reign in this present darkness. God didn't focus on what was going wrong, he spoke only the things he wanted to see. When we focus on what the devil is doing instead of what God can do, we unconsciously empower evil over our lives. But if we will stand and declare the power and faithfulness of God irrespective of what the enemy has done, the light of life will flood our lives and darkness will vanish in the presence of God.

The secret to power in this life is in the spoken word. The enemy can take anything away from you and it will not matter as long as he doesn't take God's word from your heart and lips. The root word, believe, means much more than just to agree with the heart. It also has to do with zealously confessing and professing what your heart believes and is totally convinced about. You're not a believer in the light unless you confess the light everywhere you go. Jesus never worked any miracle in silence. He always spoke to the situation.

He always issued a word of command and demons had to flee, withered body parts were restored and even the dead came back to life. We cannot separate supernatural living from supernatural speaking. This is why we must fill our hearts with the pure Word of God until the Word becomes our first response to negative pulses of life because there will be difficulties in this life. Jesus didn't promise us smooth sailing but he promised us safe landing. He didn't promise that we will not have trouble but he did promise that our troubles will not have us because he has overcome the world.

May be the reason why that circumstance in your life has lingered is because you have done everything but speak a 'let there be' word over it. As you release the 'let there be' words, the very elements of creation must comply because you have spoken the word of God. It might not be the very same minute but you can always count on the fact that words you speak or allow others speak over you have impact on the quality of life you live. Don't speak the Word of God one minute and walk away the next; stay with it, hang in there, and keep speaking ‘let there be’ words. Don't stop speaking; keep talking, insist on it, decree the promises of God and watch miracles happen. The secret to a life of miracles is in speaking faith filled words everyday and everywhere.

Prayer/Action
*Pray that your words will carry God's life in them
*Declare that from now on, you speak no mere/lifeless words and your words will carry power and will be irresistible
*Ask for grace to work in your God given dominion/authority
Engage in the power of Positive confessions.
Speak Life to every dead situation.

The 'Let there be' Dimension I

Text: Prov.18:21
MORE LESSONS: Job 6:25
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 85-87

I noticed that a whole lot of people while trying to quote this anchor text say "...the power of life and death is in the tongue..." but there is an eternal golf of difference between that and what the word of God actually says. It is important to realize that it really doesn't say that, because if it does then it will mean something else. What it actually says is, death and life are in the power of the tongue.

This means that the power to impart the power of life or the power of death is in the tongue. It is not really the tongue as an organ in the body that is the big deal but the tongue as an instrument of the word. It is with words that there is power. Ecclesiastes 8:4a Where the word of a king is, there is power ....This is the reason why the words we speak are more powerful than we can ever know.
The power of a kind word is unfathomable in the way it imparts life and the power of a curse word is immeasurable in the way it releases the power of death.

The gate way into the spirit are words because it was by words that the worlds were framed. Contrary to science and commerce, diamonds are not the most expensive substances around, Words are. This is because the very raw materials with which diamonds and all of the worlds were made were words; God's words. This is why we must learn God's prescribed way to use the tongue because through it we make or mere ourselves and creation as a whole. It is no coincidence that the first things God teaches us in the Bible is how to use the tongue. Ten times he spoke, saying, let there be... Genesis 1:3, And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And all of creation was in shape within 6 days. The root word, "let there be light" is best translated to mean “light be".

That is what I call the 'let there be' dimension. It is a God-culture. It means whatever you desire to see or become, halt the complaining and anxiety, step up to the image of God that you are, command and say, "let there be joy in my heart", "let there be success in my career", "let there be money in my account", "let there be a supply of wisdom for me today" - That's the first lesson for those who want to be like God.

Prayer/Action
*Pray for grace to use your tongue wisely
*Pray against every negative consequence of spoken words in your life
*Pray that your tongue will yield you good fruits
*Declare that from now on, your tongue will impact God's Life on people you meet
Let your words edify someone today
Use your words to create your world

Honouring Fathers II

Text: Ephesians 6:2-3
More lessons: Matt 15:1-9
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 82-84

What you honour, you will attract. You cannot dishonour God and receive the blessings of God, it just will not flow to you. In the same manner, you cannot dishonour fathers and expect to become a father deserving honour. It is not another good saying, it's a reality worth trying. When next you need somebody who has got something you admire and desire, honour him because what you hate will never come to you. At the birth of Jesus, Arabian astrologists saw His star and came to worship Him. They came to honour Him and gave Him gifts. This is why the Bible calls them wise men because irrespective of the fact that they were older men and the object of honour was only a day old baby, they didn't raise their shoulders high nor were ashamed to bow down in honour.

However, a king in the city of God who should understand these things was jealous of the born King and his pride and hatred destroyed him. The law of honour has nothing to do with denomination or religion; it is a law of life. Honour attracts counsel and counsel will produce wisdom in your life. The anchor text unveils an incredible insight about the connection between honour and long life. The major difference between father, mother and child is age and longevity of life, so the word of God is showing younger ones that the key to enjoying long life as fathers and mothers.
What a revelation! This means that every time you dishonour someone God has placed over and around you, right or wrong, you waste your days on earth and shorten your life span. Honour is the first command with a promise. We must be deliberate about honouring people because it helps channel our energies towards positivity and strength as well as checks the spirit of pride and fear away from us. Fear has powerful torment because it makes us honour the enemy's counsel instead of God’s.

Honour is a proof of security and strength not weakness and fear. Only the wise know the value of honour. The reason why some people do not seem to make progress in life despite many prayers and fasting is because they have refused to honour the people that have been a blessing to them or contributed to them in one way or the other so they cannot enter the next level of honour. Those who choose honour, choose well and shall enjoy long-life!

Prayer/Action
*Ask the father for mercy in any area you sowed seeds of dishonour.
*Pray for grace to obey God's Word and all godly instructions/reproof.
*Ask for grace to be humble no matter the height you attain in life.
Be deliberate about honouring people.

Honouring Fathers I

Text: Proverbs 24:6
More lessons: Proverbs 4:7-9
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 79-81

Instruction is key to wisdom. Where ever people honour counsel, mistakes are minimized and impact, maximized. And this is the purpose of a father; because of his wealth of experiences and longevity on the paths of life, he can provide value instruction. It is not who you listen to that determines your safety and success, it is whose counsel you honour. If we will be better than those who have gone ahead of us, we cannot afford to make the same mistakes that they made.

We must glean from their failures and successes together and find useful truths about the journey so that we can fly faster and further. This is so not just for spiritual things but in every sphere of influence and work of life. Isaac newton always accrued his record breaking success to 'standing on the shoulders of giants'. No wonder he was such an enigma in his field. God is our heavenly Father; but how can we say we honour our Father in heaven if we do not honour our earthly fathers? Not just biological but all those who God has arranged to be ahead of you for the purpose of instruction and wise counsel.

This is the reason why the enemy is vehemently attacking our church and homes today, in divorce and breaking of spiritual authority. As long as he can keep the coming generation from parental and spiritual counsel and guidance, he can easily perpetrate his evil in their minds, lives and communities at large. This is why the Bible is given to us so that we can learn from other peoples’ mistakes, successes, pains and joys to create out a safe map for the journey ahead because the sincerity of a traveller is in vain if his maps are wrong. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works: 2 Tim. 3:16-17.

Needful it is to say that one of the most profound ways to tap into the wisdom and counsel of fathers is to ask questions. You cannot afford to have more answers than questions; really, you shouldn't because it is only those who ask who know. Knowledge will not come by osmosis, we must ask to know, seek to find and knock to enjoy open doors. It is no coincidence that we are all created with two ears but one mouth so that we can listen more than talk because those who listen for wisdom will have something to say but those who don't will talk because they have to say something. Wisdom is not an option for high-flyers. Choose wise counsel today by honouring fathers.

Prayer/Action
* Ask for God’s guidance in submitting yourself to fatherly counsel.
Apologize to your parents for any wrong doing in the past today.

Double Doors II

Text: John 10:7
MORE LESSONS: Revelation 3:7-8
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 76-78

To really tap into the powers of the Kingdom, we must learn the principles and protocols of it's legislation. There is a kingdom law in the spirit that permits only he that wields the keys to access the treasures therein. It was on the account of the validity of this principle that Jesus while commissioning Simon Peter as the apostolic spear head of the early church, And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven: It is obvious and apparent that Jesus could only have given keys because there are doors; kingdom doors.

Doors that can only be opened and accessed by the Key bearing kings. So He was revealing something unmistakable about walking in dominion in heaven and on the earth. He wanted Peter and everyone of us to pay attention to the significance of spiritual keys. Keys stand for revelation, access and authority. The power of a key is not in it's size, but in it's ability to snap open the mechanism behind giant doors. Most and generally, keys to large doors and gates are not big themselves. They may be small, way smaller than hammers chisels or hack saws; but I will choose a key over Matthew 16:19.

A hammer, a chisel or a saw because though it is smaller, it commands doors and gates of any size noiselessly, stresslessly and sweatlessly to open. Little wonder Jesus introduced Himself as the key wielder while speaking to the church in Philadelphia. Jesus wields the key of David. Glory! We know that David is the Old Testament type of a priest and prophet and king, therefore the key of David is that Key that can unlock any dimension and capacity of doors, including double doors. With Jesus there is unprecedented access to all doors.

Prayer/Action
* Pray that God will always lead you to the doors you will open into your breakthrough.
Practically apply the key that unlocks all doors today.

Double Doors I

Text: Isa 45:1-2
More lessons: Psalms 24:7-10
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 73-75

The finest treasures around are hidden behind the strongest fortifications possible. We don't want to throw pearls on the surface. Even so, the deep treasures of the earth and bounties of heaven are hid behind doors of depths and gates of heights.

Needful also to say that, the things we value in our houses may be protected by doors but cities and kingdoms set up double doors-two leaved gates to defend its wealth. Jesus said His church is marching on and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. He was directly saying that the responsibility of the church is to pierce through the double doors of hell, bind the strong man, take back everything the devil stole and advance heaven’ s agenda just as he exemplified when He snatched the keys of hell and the grave from the enemy and gave gifts to men. Revelation 1:18Every member of the body of Christ irrespective of tribe, or denomination wields the power to dismantle demonic gates, and unbuckle the blockades in the way of destiny fulfillment so that we can advance God's purposes in our lives and careers.

Every one of us was born into a battle. It's the ultimate battle between the gates of hell and the gates of God. My simple logic has it that a gate is a massive door with arms in both directions (a double door) used to account for or control entry and exit between places.

The enemy knows that he cannot plunder you if he cannot unlock your gates of protection and defense. Everything he does against you is to pull down the hedge of the Lord that is around you. One way to strengthen the Lord's gates around you is to walk in obedience. Sin undoubtedly pulls down the gates of righteousness around our lives. When God wants to bless you, He opens doors before you. This is your season of access to double doors. It is your time to enjoy maximum revelation and the delivery of all that God promised you. I see doors being removed from their hinges by the supernatural hand of God and gates that have limited you thus far, shattered under the glory of God. The name of Jesus is KEY! At the mention of that name, even double doors give way. When next you stand before that discouraging situation, call the name of Jesus and watch what you called impossible melt before your eyes like you were dreaming.

Prayer/Action
*Thank God for Jesus who is our eternal access to the Father.
*Pray that you will not fail/be feeble to take those treasures which belong to you in Jesus.
*Pray for grace and speed to grow into kingdom maturity/sonship so that your kingdom treasures can be allowed you.

The Prayer of Jehosaphat

READ: 2 Chron. 20: 1-20
MORE LESSONS: James 5: 16
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 70-72

Several armies from three nations allied together to attack the land of Judah. The report came to Jehoshaphat the King of Judah that a great multitude was coming against him. This great man and prayer warrior at this time prayed a prayer that teaches some principles of prayers. When everything around Jehoshaphat was bad and there seemed to be no hope; instead of panicking, he went to God's altar in prayer and fasting. A man that will be mighty in prayers will know that the answer to every situation lies with God.
When Jehoshaphat got to God's altar, he began to reason with God based on the things he had heard and read about Him in His Word. He said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee? Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel...saying, If, when evil cometh upon us, as the s word, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help: 2 Chron. 20:6-9. In this prayer, the king took God's Word back to Him. God could not but respond to such prayer.
He was asking God to prove Himself in the matter at hand. Prayer is taking God's word back to Him. This is what moves God to action. When Jehoshaphat finished praying, he worshipped God because he believed that God had heard him. And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD: 2 Chron. 20:18. He later proceeded to battle with praise singers leading the procession in accordance with God’s instruction. No wonder, they didn't need to fight, God gave them the victory. Step up your prayer. Don't just pray as a religious ritual, expect things to happen when you pray. Pray according to God's principles of prayer. Locate what God has said, either in His spoken or written Word. Believe and confess what He has said; take it before the throne of God and ask Him to let it be according to what He has said. That's what activates heaven. Heaven is not activated by crying and murmuring and complaining, but what God’s Word has said and by faith in His promises for effectiveness in the place of prayer. Knowledge and faith in his Word are great pre-requisites. Cross check your prayer with the word.

Prayer/Action
* Ask God to give you the winning strategy for your battle like He gave Jehoshaphat.
* Say aloud, Lord, teach me to pray and help me in the place of prayer.
* We know how to pray by praying, set aside an hour today for the act of prayer.

It is your Right to be Blessed

Text: Gen 27:30
MORE LESSONS: Deut. 28:1-2
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 67-69

Isaac had two children and when he was dying, he handed over that covenant to Jacob; that is the possession of the house of Jacob. Isaac said to Jacob, ‘the agreement between God, my father and I hand it over to you, Let it happen to you that you will be blessed, and be great. Jacob will have a great name, through Jacob the families of the earth shall be blessed. Isaac said to Jacob you go and enjoy that in your own time let it become a reality. There is an argument that Jacob was not the one actually due for the blessing, because the blessing was to be transferred to the first born. Remember that Esau lost his birth right to Jacob. So when Isaac gave the inheritance of that blessing to Jacob he was simply giving it to the first born. Remember also that after Jacob collected that promise, he ran from home because Esau was angry, bitter and looking for how to get it. But here in this scripture, the Bible says there is a possession meant for Jacob- a great name. In Jesus’ name you will have a great name. Those blessings were worth fighting for; that through Abraham all the families of the earth shall be blessed. Is that not a big thing?
Imagine that through you everyone who will be happy on the earth is because they are connected to you. Jacob got the blessing and ran away. Esau did everything to get it, but he could not get it. And to worsen the matter for Esau, the Bible says those things that God had promised Jacob, he will get them. You will remember that Jacob had his name changed to Israel which means everyone connected with Israel will receive the blessing of Genesis 12; they will be blessed, they will be great. The fact that you are connected to Abraham via Israel guarantees two things- that you are blessed and that you are great.
That is the promise God gave Abraham and it came to pass through Israel. If you are born again then you are connected to Abraham through Israel because Jesus came from Israel. Everybody connected with Jesus is blessed and must be great. That is the reason why in 2014 you shouldn't think yourself low or small. You shouldn't think yourself a cursed person. You are not cursed; you are blessed, you are favoured, you are a special person. Reject anything less because for being connected with Jesus through salvation, the blessing promised Abraham is yours.

Prayer/Action
Ask for the following covenant blessings in Gen. 27:28-29 to be fulfilled in your life.
The dew of heaven, the fatness of the earth, plenty of corn and wine, are yours. Claim them, Nations will bow down before you, Cursed be everyone that curses you and blessed be everyone that blesses you.

Growing in the Prophetic II

Text: 2 Peter 1:21
More lessons: 1 Cor. 14:3-6
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 64-66

Theological research and philosophy alone will not sharpen your spiritual sensitivity in the Holy Ghost. Theology is from two Greek words: 'theo' which refers to 'God' and 'logy' meaning to 'study' or 'sensual knowledge', Theology is an attempt to study God but God cannot be studied, He can only be revealed by His Spirit. That is why we speak of the book of revelation not information. A heart that is after the knowing that comes from what is revealed will grow in the spirit of prophecy.
Secondly, students of prophecy must see that the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy. As a tree is to a leaf, so is the testimony of Jesus to the Spirit of prophecy. Theology will provide a bed rock for sermonizing but the Spirit of prophecy has no respect for theology, it only responds to the heart and soul that is pulsing after the Father's heart. Only those who receive the testimony of Jesus - (those who are addicted to the words and works of Jesus, who will weigh every prophecy , trance, dream, open vision or angelic encounter on the balances of the person and principles of Jesus), will launch into strong prophetic depths and heights without perversion or pollution.
The original word 'testimony' is the same word rendered ' testament', and to every testament there is a testator. Jesus is the Testator of the new covenant. It is impossible to reflect the New Testament Spirit of prophecy in condemnation and judgmental utterance but in edification, exhortation and comfort. Yielding to the inner prompting of that testament of Jesus written on the tablets of your born-again heart will always lead to an eruption of the Spirit of prophecy.

Prayer/Action
* Pray that the Spirit of prophesy will envelop you afresh in your service to God.
Study a prophetic passage today and apply it to your life.

Growing in the Prophetic I

Text: Revelation 19:10
More lessons: 2 Cor. 12:1-2
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 61-63

Today's text is extracted from the most mystical book in the entire Bible - the book of Revelation. It is a highly eschatological piece of divine literature that delivers its truths in signs, symbols, figures, and types. It was penned by John, the apostle who laid on Jesus' bosom at meals and was known by the twelve as the disciple Jesus loved. The book came after awesome encounters and 3rd heaven visitation on the island of Patmos where he was abandoned to die after attempts to kill him in boiling oil failed times and times again.
The thoughts that flow through most minds when it comes to the content of this book are those of fear and terror, scary creatures and bloody scenes. However, one truth about this prophetic book that everyone who wants to experience growth in the prophetic things of God must understand is that it is first and solely a revelation of Jesus Christ. The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Revelation 1:1. If we must find increase in the prophetic, we must yearn for revelations of Jesus Christ. There are certain depths and heights in the Spirit of God that cannot be taught, they can only be caught. The scriptures declare that Paul was caught up into vision of the Lord, I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know — God knows: 2 Cor. 12:2.
We need to be caught up because the things we are being prepared to see and experience cannot be learned or researched. We must be brought into contact with the Spirit of revelation so that the things of God can be perceived and grasped by us. We are not mere mortals, we are spirit beings in mortal bodies and until we desire to be caught up into the spirit where we really belong we cannot see and participate in the prophetic manifestations of the Kingdom of God.

Prayer/Action
*Thank the father for access into the well of the prophetic
*Pray for a deeper insight in the things of God
*Pray for a fresh encounter with God that will change your life forever
*Ask for a discerning heart to clearly distinguish the prophetic that flows from God’s Spirit
*Pray against every counterfeit spirit around your life and destiny.

The Power of the Holy Spirit

Text: Acts 1:8
More lessons: Isaiah 32:15
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 58-60

Life is not worth living without power. There is a deep craving in man for true power. Adam and Eve sinned because the enemy could appeal to their craving for power, and convince them that the tree of knowledge of good and evil will impart new powers on them that God didn't want them to have. Thus, he led them into disobedience and then death. This means, they did not intend to sin, but to be more powerful, so they didn't mind taking sides with the enemy just to be more powerful. The same applies today as people don't mind doing anything including ritual killings and every corrupt practice just to be more powerful. Why do we eat food? Is it not for energy or to gain power? Every sin is linked to a perverted craving for power and every good work is linked to a righteous craving for power.

The craving is not the matter, it is where we go to quench our power thirst that really matters. The first thing our text shows us about those who are filled with the Holy Spirit is that, they will walk in God's power. It is not just a promise, it is the reality of every one who will dare to grow in intimacy with the spirit of the all-powerful God. The Holy Spirit is not power, He is the envoy of power. The secret of power is to develop intimacy with the power-man. Fuel by itself is not motion but when a car engine has fuel, motion and speed are possible. Every assignment and purpose require power of performance to bring them to fruition, even so life without the power of the Holy Spirit is a joke.

The second thing in our text is that the power of the Holy Spirit makes ordinary men achieve global feats ...and ye shall be witnesses unto me . . . unto the uttermost part of the earth: you can shock your world, you can touch the apex of your carrier, you can make eternal impact if you drink deep into the power of the Holy Spirit. There are two levels of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The first is the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit - this happens when you accept Jesus as Lord and King of your life 1 Corinthians 12:3, and next is the infilling power of the Holy Spirit - this is where the baptism of power occurs accompanied by the evidence of praying in other tongues. Acts 2:4. Are you thirsty for the Holy Ghost? Ask Jesus to baptize you NOW. Have you already received the Holy Ghost? Pray in other tongues and Let him refresh you again.

Prayer/Action
*Thank God for the indwelling of Holy Spirit in you.
*Ask for grace to be a witness wherever you find yourself.
*Pray that you will continuously set your mind in things of eternal purpose.
*Declare that your life will be of continuous impact.
Be a witness to someone today.
Ask Jesus to baptize you with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

The Purpose of the Holy Spirit

Text: John 14:26
More lessons: John 14:12-17
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 55-57

Whatever God does is on purpose and for a purpose. God is only motivated by the counsel of His will. He is extravagant enough to create billions of galaxies and stellar bodies to illuminate one tiny planet called earth but he is also detailed enough to number the bio-strands growing out of the pores on your skin and mark them off when they fall. Our God does nothing without a designated purpose. The first time we felt the Holy Spirit, was when He made man out of the dust of the earth and breathe into him the breathe of life - from the original rendering 'pneuma' meaning wind, force or the Spirit. It was after the dusty man received God's Spirit that he began to walk and talk, and exercise dominion over nature just as God originally intended.

The Holy Spirit is the essence of God in you enabling you to walk in His power and do His will. In everyday life, When we use the word 'spirit', we often mean, the essence the behaviour or the character for example. Even if you go to the ends of the earth when you enter a Nigerian home, you just know it because of the Nigerian spirit - it's warm and hospitable. That’s the same work the Holy Spirit has come to do in the believer's life. He reproduces the very essence, power and character of God in you. Jesus speaking in our text emphasizes that the Holy Spirit will bring to remembrance what we have forgotten and teach us what we do not know.

He is the connector of past present and future, nothing missing, nothing broken. All that is required to live in health and wealth, the Holy Spirit can teach us. He made Adam name all the animals without a single biology lecture or textbook because He is not the spirit of information, he is the Spirit of revelation. He is not a magician so He performs no tricks. Whatever He does is permanent. He is the Christian's proof producer. He is like a mighty man on a mission, sent in Jesus name, echoing the voice and authority of Jesus, and leading us daily in victory over satanic trickery and lies.

Jesus didn't start His earthly ministry without the fullness of the Holy Spirit nor did He end saying it is finished until He had given up the Holy Ghost. Simply put, the Holy Ghost is a compulsory companion to all who will be leading lights in this present darkness. It is not enough to know Jesus as Lord, its time to experience the Holy Spirit as Comforter, Teacher, Powerhouse, and Friend. The Holy Spirit is heaven on earth. Find and fulfil your purpose today. Get the Holy Ghost.

The Person of the Holy Spirit

Text: John 14:16
More lessons: Acts 19:1-7
Bible Reading in one Year: Psalms 52-54

So much is said, debated and argued out about the Holy Spirit in discussion blogs, articles, religious seminars, local assemblies and Christian inter-denominational meetings today. It is a rather sad thing to note that throughout church history, the major doctrinal divide that pulled the body of Christ apart stemmed from arguments about the ministry of the Holy Spirit, His gifts, its manifestations and function in the church. We can talk all we want but until we experience the Holy Spirit for ourselves, we can only discuss our opinions, we will never be able to capture the truth about Him.

It is not opinions, but only the truth that can make us free. I believe that the first real discovery which will set us in motion on our way to the truth about this precious Spirit of God is the realization that beyond the gentle fresh wind blowing on goose bumps, more than the bright and cloven tongues of fire, transcending the white little dove; the Holy Spirit is a person. He has a face. He is real! He is tangible: He can be felt. He can speak. He can hear. He can smile. He can be grieved. He can laugh.

The Holy Spirit has a great sense of humour. Those who have personal experiences with Him know that He is the best friend anybody can have. Even when you are alone, with Holy Spirit you are never lonely. Many people find it easier to reckon with God the Father and God the Son as persons but when it comes to God the Holy Spirit, they just think He is merely a force or current of wind, a fume of white smoke rising to the clouds, or another explanation for mysterious things.

This is the reason why many never get it right and end up in vain arguments or apostasy; they want to know about 'it' instead of looking to know Him. Jesus reveals Him as a person in our text ...that He may abide with you forever. He wants to be your consuming passion. He wants to invigorate you with power to walk in your destiny fulfilment. He is the Spirit of Jesus sent to enable us do greater works than Jesus did. No one born of a woman can love like God except by Him the Holy Spirit. Romans 5:5. One with the Holy Ghost, is majority. Say YES to the Holy Ghost and never walk alone.

Prayer/Action
*Thank God for the gift of a Comforter, who abides with us forever.
*Ask for grace to personally discover/experience the person of the Holy Spirit.
*Pray that you will not repel the workings of the Holy Spirit in your life.
