Fan your Flame I

Sunday 27 September
READ: I Thess. 5:16-23
MORE LESSON: II Tim. 1:6

We are living in dangerous times when the devil is dealing a deadly blow to everything he can lay his hands on, especially in the Church of God and on the people of God. He is dealing deadly blows also in the aspect of love among the brethren; there is no more true love among the brethren. He has dealt a deadly blow to relationships such that brethren are now only casual friends. The intimacy of brotherhood is dead. Satan threw sin into the Church in different colours and camouflage in the name of modernity and the Church has gone cold. Money, popularity and fame have taken their toll; many have become wounded soldiers, just limping to get home. In the face of all these, Apostle Paul says you should not let your fire die, don't kill it and don't allow anybody to quench it, Quench not the Spirit: I Thess. 5:19.

A lot of people have lost the spark of the Spirit of God that was kindled in them at redemption, which is manifested by their lack of excitement at the things of God as it used to be when they just got saved. In the beginning, night vigils were things of joy and evangelism was with burden. Any day you missed quiet time, you skipped breakfast and carried the guilt around like a murderer, and to miss one fellowship day was like missing rapture. To restore the fire and stay awake, Paul says, Pray without ceasing: I Thess. 5:17.

Then, Abstain from all appearance of evil: v22. Until Jesus' return, keep your spirit, soul and body blameless by asking God to grant you a sanctified life, that is, a life delivered totally from the roots of sin and the power of inherited sin. Ask God for the power to keep loving Him and His Word more and more everyday and your fire will be aglow to the end.

Prayer/Action
* Pray that God will rekindle your commitment to His Kingdom.
* Ask God to sanctify you wholly, spirit, soul and body.
* Ask God for a daily thirst after God and His Word.
--Have you thought of something you can do to increase your efficiency in God? Think and work at it today.

PROPHETIC PRAYER
The power of “ALMOST THERE BUT NEVER THERE”, your operation in my life and destiny is hereby terminated, in the name of Jesus.
