Your Personal Altar of Prayer

Monday 18 January
READ: 1 Sam 1: 9 - 18
MORE LESSON: Mk.1:35

God can do anything for you if you will call upon Him. Men seek for results in everything they do but they neglect the tool that God has put in place for them to get result. Prayer is God's ordained means for His children to get solutions from Him for their problems. It means, therefore that any man who refuses to pray rejects results. Conversely, one who wants to succeed through God must be ready to pray. This is the reason God didn't mince words in saying, Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not: Jer. 33: 3.

God has made a promise that if you call on Him, you will receive answer. Prayer is calling God; it is making a demand on God. Your personal altar of prayer is the place where you can generate all the results that you need in life. Jesus would climb the mountain in the night and spiritually lay hold on all the result He wants for the day. When the day breaks, He steps out and sickness, demons, religious hypocrites and every other circumstance begin to bow before Him. The problem with many believers is that the prayer they pray in church is the beginning and end of their prayer life. Corporate prayer in church is vital and is necessary for your growth and success in destiny but it cannot take the place of your personal altar.

A brother, who was afflicted by ulcer
once shared a testimony of how he heard me preach that you could stir God's heart to do things for you. He laid down an offering and told God to heal him. We prayed a corporate prayer in church and the service ended. But after the service, he decided to personally build on what has been done in church. So he didn't go home after church but moved into one of the classrooms in our school and prayed until the power of God fell on him and the ulcer disappeared right there.

Hannah had been going to Shiloh to seek God in the corporate assembly. But one day, when she became determined to get results, she stayed behind when everybody had gone home and took the issue personal with her Maker. She prayed persistently at her personal altar to God. This was what attracted the priest Eli to her. She cried to the Lord like a drunken woman till the hearts of God and man were moved. So, the prophet declared to her, Go in peace and the God of Israel grant thy petition: verse 17. You need to have an altar of personal fervent prayer like the prayer of Hannah. It is a prayer that doesn't take no, it continues until something is done. God will do something by His power for everyone who earnestly calls upon His name.

Prayer/Action
* Ask God to send fresh fire upon your altar.
* Repent of all negligence of your personal, intimate relationship with God.
* Promise God that you will never neglect fellowship with Him again.

PROPHETIC PRAYER
I am a seed of Abraham, the root of David and the offshoot of Jesus; no man born of a woman shall be able to uproot me from the land of the living in 2016, in the mighty name of Jesus.
